Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Matthew L. Wilson, son of Virginia Wilson of Martinsburg, W.Va., has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Wilson is a 2001 graduate of Martinsburg High School.




Coast Guard Cadet John E. Mundale Jr., son of Marilyan J. Pontius and John E. Mundale of Needmore, Pa., recently enrolled as a cadet at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, New London, Conn.

Mundale is a 2003 graduate of Southern Fulton High School, Warfordsburg, Pa.




1LT Matthew J. Lawson, son of Janice and Richard Lawson of Big Pool, has been deployed to Iraq with Co. B, 51th Signal Battalion, 22nd Signal Brigade. Lawson is a platoon leader and also has served in Korea and Germany.

Lawson is a 1996 graduate of St. Maria Goretti High School and a 2000 graduate of Virginia Tech School of Engineering.

Civilian Chet M. Fearon, son of Army Col. and Mrs. Christopher G. Fearon of Myersville, Md., recently participated in the U.S. Naval Academy's week-long summer seminar program in Annapolis.

Fearon attends Middletown High School, Middletown, Md.




Pvt. Stuart Broussard of Greencastle, Pa., recently enlisted into the Maryland Army National Guard's Company B, 121st Engineer Battalion, located in Cumberland, Md. Broussard attended pre-basic training with the 581st Solider Readiness Battalion at the Camp Fretterd Military Reservation in Reisterstown, Md.

Broussard is a 2003 graduate of South Hagerstown High School.




Civilian Christopher M. Whitley, son of Laurie H. Whitley of Middletown, Md., and Glenn S. Whitley of Jefferson, Md., recently participated in the U.S. Naval Academy's week-long summer seminar program in Annapolis.

Whitley is attending Middletown High School.

, son of Linda B. and Steven S. Gold of Mount Airy, Md., recently participated in the U.S. Naval Academy's week-long summer seminar program in Annapolis.

Gold is attending Mount St. Joseph High School.




Civilian Christopher J. Nichols, son of Donna J. and Scott J. Nichols, of Myersville, Md., recently participated in the U.S. Naval Academy's week-long summer seminar program in Annapolis.

Nichols is attending Middletown High School, Middletown, Md.




Jacob Justus, son of Tabb A. and Laura A. Justus of Waynesboro, Pa., has been awarded an Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps college scholarship. He was selected on the basis of comprehensive test scores, high school scholastic achievement, school officials' evaluations, extra-curricular activities and community involvement.

Justus is a 2003 graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School.




Marine Corps Pfc. Joshua P. Wagner, son of Georgette Arthurs of Altoona, Pa., and Paul F. Wagner of Thurmont, Md., recently was promoted to his current rank while serving with the 1st Battalion, 6th Marines, 2nd Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Wagner, a 2002 graduate of Catoctin High School, Thurmont, joined the Marine Corps in September 2002.
