Resolution would add Parks Board members

BOONSBORO - The Boonsboro Town Council on Monday night introduced a resolution to increase the membership of the Boonsboro Parks Board.

Under the resolution, the board's size will increase from four to six members. The increase is needed because the board is busy with projects including planning a park expansion, Councilman Richard Hawkins said.

Report on downtown revitalization adopted

BOONSBORO - The Boonsboro Town Council on Monday approved adoption of a consultant's report that suggests ways to revitalize the downtown, including having the downtown listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The listing would give financial incentives to some of the property owners, Town Manager John Kendall said.

The Boonsboro Economic Development Commission at a July 14 meeting decided to present the final draft of the report to the council at Monday's meeting to encourage the council to adopt the document and to consider implementing some of its contents.

The town used its funds and a $25,000 state grant to pay for a $49,100 contract with consultant Mary Means & Associates Inc. of Alexandria, Va.
