Steven E. Nye


MONT ALTO, Pa. - Steven E. Nye, 23, of 417 Greenwood Ave., died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003, at the scene of a motor vehicle accident at SR 997 south of Mont Alto, Pa.

Born June 3, 1980, in Waynesboro, he was the son of Chester E. Nye of Waynesboro, Pa., and Patricia Kauffman Carmack of Chambersburg, Pa.

He attended Waynesboro Area Senior High School.

He was employed at Kelly Roofing in Chambersburg for 11/2 years.

He attended First Assembly of God in Greencastle, Pa.

He helped with the local band, 3 Mile Scream.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one daughter, Jasmine R. Nye of Waynesboro; one half-sister, Nikki Carmack of Chambersburg; paternal grandparents, Glenn and Patty Weyandt Nye of Mont Alto; maternal grandmother, Nellie Kauffman of Greencastle; aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home in Chambersburg. The Rev. Dennis C. Sproull will officiate. Burial will be in Prices Church Cemetery in Waynesboro.

Friends will be received at the funeral home today from 6 to 9 p.m., and Wednesday at noon.

Memorial donations may be made to a trust for his daughter, c/o Glenn and Patty Nye, 417 Greenwood Ave., Mont Alto, PA 17237.




Jean E. Stull


FREDERICK, Md. - Jean Eileen Bowlus Stull, 61, of Masser Road, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003, at the Washington Hospital Center.

Born April 11, 1942, in Middletown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Ralph Henry and Nellie May Lapole Bowlus.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Sherman C. Stull; two daughters, Donna S. Gidcumb of Denton, Texas, and Adora J. Stull of Thurmont, Md.; one son, Douglas L. Stull of Middletown; three sisters, Geraldine Markley of Alexandria, Va., Marlene Banks of Frederick, and Gwendolyn Bowlus of Middletown; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Hoffman, Janet Bowlus and her twin, Joan Gladhill and one brother, Curtis Bowlus.

Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home, Frederick. The Rev. William Bucher will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Esther Beavers


MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Esther Beavers, 83, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003, at the home of her daughter in Bentonville, Va.

Born Oct. 15, 1919, in Martinsburg, she was the daughter of the late Ambrose L. and Agnes Buncutter Anderson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey "Jack" Beavers.

She was a 1936 graduate of Martinsburg High School.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Judith L. Smedley of Bentonville; one sister, Neva E. Lunday of Cushing, Okla.; three grandchildren, Martin Smedley, Bryan Smedley and Bradley Smedley; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son, Marshall K. Beavers; and one brother, Leonard M. Anderson.

Graveside services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Rosedale Cemetery. The Rev. James D. Riley Jr. will officiate.

Pauline L. Martin


SMITHSBURG - Pauline L. Martin, 84, of Cavetown Church Road, died Monday, Aug. 4, 2003, at Quincy (Pa.) United Methodist Home.

Born Nov. 29, 1918, in Wolfsville, Md., she was the daughter of the late George Theodore and Lefa Edith Barkman Kline.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Wolfsville.

She was a member of AARP.

She is survived by her husband, Abraham James Martin, whom she married Nov. 9, 1940; three daughters, Joann Willard of Foxville, Md., Beverly F. Smith of Hagerstown, and Sharon P. Johnston of Sykesville, Md.; one sister, Geraldine Miller of Wolfsville; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Elaine Baker; and two brothers, Alvey Kline and Earl Kline.

Services will be Thursday at 4 p.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Wolfsville. Pastor Jurgen Hilke will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mark's Lutheran Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg.




Audrey J. Bingaman


GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Audrey J. Bingaman, 56, of 6489 Guitner Road, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003, at Falling Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Chambersburg, Pa.

Born Sept. 2, 1946, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Geraldine J. Ambrose Bingaman of Greencastle and the late Chester Theodore Bingaman Sr.

She attended day care in Lemasters, Pa.
