CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Mont Alto, Pa., man was pronounced dead at the scene of an accident Sunday morning on Pa. 997 in Quincy Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Steven Eugene Nye, 23, of 417 Greenwood Ave., died of blunt force trauma to the head, according to Franklin County Coroner Jeffrey R. Conner. No autopsy is scheduled, he said.

Police said Nye was driving a 1988 Honda Accord north at 7:57 a.m. when he lost control of the car about two-tenths of a mile north of Slabtown Road. The car went off the east side of the road, ran onto a guardrail and rolled over, hitting the concrete head wall of a stream, police said.

The car then rolled into a driveway on its roof, according to police. Nye, who was not wearing a seat belt, was partially thrown through the windshield and was trapped under a door post of the car, according to police.

Police said their investigation into the accident was continuing, pending the findings of the coroner's investigation and results of toxicology tests.

"He was very involved with family and friends and he was there when you needed him," said cousin Heather Miller of Chambersburg, Pa. She said Nye has a 3-year-old daughter, Jasmine Renee Nye.

Steven Nye had attended Waynesboro (Pa.) Area Senior High School. He worked for Kelly Roofing and Insulation Inc. in Chambersburg at the time of his death.
