Man is charged in pedestrian accident

WILLIAMSPORT - A Hagerstown man was charged in connection with a Saturday evening accident near Williamsport that left a 60-year-old pedestrian in critical condition.

The victim, whose identity has not been released, was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore where he was in critical condition, the Washington County Sheriff's Department said.

The accident occurred about 6:50 p.m. near 12109 Heather Drive near Williamsport, police said.

The driver, Michael Edward Sease, 24, of Hagerstown, was charged with driving under the influence, failing to drive right of the center line and possession of a controlled and dangerous substance, police said.

No further details were available Saturday night.

Suicide suspected in Frederick area death

FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. - The decomposed body of a middle-aged man was found in a field in northern Frederick County on Friday night. Police believe he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.


Officers with the Frederick County Sheriff's Department declined to release the man's name, pending positive identification and notification of his next of kin.

The body was found Friday around 8:40 p.m. off Greg Road near Bridgeport Road. After noticing a car in a field, a passerby walked closer and spotted the body on the ground near the car, according to a press release.

Evidence found at the scene indicates suicide, police said.

An autopsy was scheduled to be performed at the chief medical examiner's office in Baltimore.

Charges brought in shoplifting incident

FREDERICK, Md. - Frederick police responding to a report of shoplifting Friday at a grocery store charged a man and a woman with several offenses.

The Giant Eagle store at 1275 W. Patrick St. reported two female shoplifters, and as police investigated, one allegedly became disorderly and disrupted the store's activities, police said.

Erica Diane Stone, 39, of Frederick, was charged with disorderly conduct, obstructing, hindering and theft under $500. Police said the other female was cooperative and was identified for the store to press charges.

An alleged accomplice in the store's parking lot attempted to leave but was snarled in traffic and couldn't escape, police said. Police said suspected drugs and paraphernalia were found in the vehicle.

Shawn Oliver, 32, address unavailable, was charged with possession of heroin, possession of paraphernalia, theft under $500, fleeing and eluding, driving with a suspended license and a seat belt violation.
