FREDERICK, Md. - A 36-year-old fugitive from Maryland who was spending his days serving ice cream in Rehobeth Beach, Del., is expected to return to the state today in police custody.

Frederick Police officers were scheduled to extradite Robin E. Lewis, wanted on charges including theft and armed robbery, today.

Washington County Sheriff's deputies charged Lewis in the April 2 armed robbery at Michaels Arts and Craft Store, at 17225 Cole Road in Halfway, where he formerly worked.

Deputies allege he used a toy gun to rob the store and tied up the clerk with duct tape.

Lewis had been living in a crawlspace at the Frederick, Md., residence of his former roommate, Aaron Smith. Lewis fled the home, allegedly stealing Smith's sport utility vehicle, after he was discovered at the residence May 10, police said. The vehicle was recovered Wednesday in Delaware, police said.

Lewis was working under Smith's name at the Double Dipper Ice Cream parlor until his arrest Saturday, police said.
