Eastern Panhandle schools fail to comply with standards

The following are the 24 schools in the Eastern Panhandle that failed to entirely comply with standards established by the No Child Left Behind Act, according to the state Department of Education.

According to the Web site www.wvachieves.k12.wv.us, the Jefferson County schools that need improvement are: Wright Denny Intermediate, Charles Town Middle, Harpers Ferry Middle, Shepherdstown Middle and Jefferson High School.

In Berkeley County, the schools are: Berkeley Heights Elementary, Burke Street Elementary, Gerrardstown Elementary, Rosemont Elementary, Tuscarora Elementary, Winchester Avenue Elementary, Potomack Intermediate, Mill Creek Intermediate, Orchard View Intermediate, Hedgesville Middle, Martinsburg North Middle, Martinsburg South Middle, Musselman Middle and all three of the county's high schools.

Morgan County schools that need improvement are: Warm Springs Middle, Berkeley Springs High and Paw Paw High.
