Roundup - 2 juniors win easily

Alex Hoffman and Tyler Ausherman each scored convincing victories on Monday in the Tri-State Junior Golf Association at Beaver Creek.

Hoffman won the 12-13 age division with a 78, seven strokes better than Jimmy Hill.

Ausherman's 78 was also seven shots better than Brian Gehrman in the 14-15 division.

Kevin Reiber shot a 70 to win the 16-18 division.

The Juniors return Aug. 11 for the Tournament of Champions at Waynesboro Country Club.

Hub City Softball

Thompson's Gas 24, South End Tavern 8: Denny Wallech had four hits, including two home runs, to lead Thompson's Gas. Kenny Kirby and Mark Baker both hit for the cycle and Scott Shank added a home run.

Jerry's/Lines and Designs 29, Dual Highway Motors 27: Scott Shupp and Denny Talbert each had five hits, including a home run, for Jerry's/Lines and Designs. Pudge Eby and Wade Elwood each had five hits, Dave Foltz and Steve Presgraves each had four hits, including a home run, and Scott Ricker also homered.


Brad Weaver Home Improvement 18, Intimidator Trucking 8: Danny Berg had four hits, while Bobby Trich, Brad Weaver, K.C. Hutzell and Dale Reed all had three hits for Brad Weaver.

Bill Baisey Kia 13, ARC of Washington County 2: Donnie Blickenstaff had three hits and Jeff Barnhart added two hits for Bill Baisey Kia.

Bill Baisey Kia 17, Minnick's Plumbing 7: Mike Green had four hits, Jeff Barnhart had three hits and Cindy Barnhart and Kristie Blickenstaff each had two hits for Bill Baisey Kia.

Minnick's Plumbing 11, Deafnet 5: Jamie Pine and Dana Bowman each had three hits for Minnick's Plumbing, while Kyle Minnick and Doug Spade each added two hits.

4-Star Athletics 17, Keefer's Lawn Care 5: Rob Rubisch hit three home runs, Matt Kuhno had a homer and three RBI, Jeff Kirkpatrick had three hits and Chad Secrest and Rick Secrest also homered for 4-Star.

4-Star Athletics 9, Martinsburg Deaf All-Stars 4: Anthony Robinson had a home run for 4-Star, while Amanda Fleming had three RBI.

Deafnet 15, Covenant Life 0: Mark Markel had three hits, including a home run, and drove in three runs for Deafnet. Marty Reichart had four hits, including a home run, Angie Nibert had three hits and two RBI and Kim Catamia had three hits.

Keefer's Lawn Care 19, ARC of Washington County 17

Hagerstown Church Softball

Otterbein 23, Crossroads 8: Ken Hilker had four hits and Jon Baker homered for Otterbein. Mike Shives had four hits for Crossroads.

Gateway 19, Concordia 4: Smiley Jackson homered for Gateway.

Virginia Avenue 20, West End Baptist 5: Caleb Moses had four hits and Jeff Mowen added three hits for Virginia Avenue. Bill Elgin had two hits for West End.


Church Golf League

A church golf league will begin play in September at Greencastle Greens. A meeting for anyone interested will be held Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at West End Baptist Chapel, located at 101 Buena Vista Avenue in Hagerstown.
