CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - One person was killed Sunday evening in an accident on Interstate 81, according to Franklin County Coroner Jeffrey R. Conner.

The accident was the third traffic crash of the weekend in Franklin County, Pa., that involved a fatality.

Sunday's crash occurred at approximately 7:25 p.m., about two miles south of exit 15 and was dispatched as a motorcycle accident. Conner said there was a fatality, but could release no other information.

Pennsylvania State Police did not release any details of the accident as of 10:30 p.m.

Police closed the northbound lanes of the interstate from exit 10 at Marion, Pa., to exit 15 at Wayne Avenue in Chambersburg. Northbound traffic was diverted onto U.S. 11. The road was reopened shortly after 9:30 p.m., according to Franklin County Emergency Communications.

Police also investigated accidents that resulted in the death of a Hagerstown woman Friday night and a Chambersburg-area man early Saturday.

Christina Fling, 28, of 206 Lily Court, Hagerstown, was killed in an accident north of exit 20 on I-81 at 8:38 p.m. Friday, police said. She was driving a Ford Explorer north when it went into the median, rolling over twice, police said. Her boyfriend also was injured in the crash and two dogs were killed, police said.

Police had yet to file a press release on that accident as of Sunday evening, but two other press releases indicated two other accidents resulted from that crash.

At 8:40 p.m., police said Ahmad Santos of Hagerstown was driving north when he struck and killed a dog near milepost 23 that police said had wandered south from another accident. Santos was not hurt.

Three minutes later, also near milepost 23, police said a Toyota driven by Calvin W. Curlen, 62, of Bowie, Md., swerved to avoid a dog in the road. His vehicle crossed the median into the southbound lanes, where it was hit by a Pontiac driven by Jennifer D. Stanley, 19, of Bunker Hill, W.Va.

Curlen's vehicle also collided with a white Ford van driven by Nigel F. Clayton, 39, of Gainesville, Fla.

Curlen, Stanley and Stanley's passenger, Victor E. Beard, 20, of Hedgesville, W.Va., all were treated and released from Chambersburg Hospital.

Devon Allen Gottfried, 19, of 9486 Circle Drive, Chambersburg, was killed Saturday in an accident that police said happened between 3 and 5 a.m.

Gottfried was driving west on U.S. 30 in Hamilton Township, Pa., when the 1994 Firebird he was driving crossed the center turn and eastbound lanes. The car struck a culvert and a utility pole, went airborne and landed on its roof, police said.
