CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Chambersburg man was sentenced Wednesday in Franklin County Court to one year in the county prison for indecent assault against two girls.
Judge Carol Van Horn also sentenced Derek James Arnsparger, 21, of 3451 Church St. to five years of probation.
Because one of the counts was a first-degree misdemeanor, Van Horn also ordered Arnsparger to comply with provisions of Pennsylvania's Megan's Law for reporting his address to police following his release from prison.
Arnsparger also was ordered to submit a sample of his DNA to the state at a cost of $250.
According to court records, the mother of one the girls told Pennsylvania State Police last fall that her daughter had been sexually assaulted in July 2002. The girl was under the age of 13 at the time, according to court records.
Police charged Arnsparger with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and statutory sexual assault, both felonies, as well as indecent assault in that case.
