Shepherd lineman named to preseason All-American teams


Shepherd College senior offensive lineman Eric Garrison was recently named to a pair of preseason NCAA Division II All-American teams.

Garrison was one of 100 players honored by Don Hansen's Football Gazette magazine, and was a Lindy's National College Football magazine second-team choice.

Lindy's also cited the Shepherd-West Virginia Wesleyan game on Nov. 1 as one of the key Division II matchups this season.

Goretti's Herman honored


Mason Herman, a senior center at St. Maria Goretti, was recently named an All-Star at the Keystone State Invitational Basketball Camp held at Albright College in Reading, Pa.

The camp, which is NCAA certified, annually brings together several of the best basketball players in the east.

Terrapin Club hosting golf tournament


The Terrapin Club, Cumberland Valley District, is holding its annual golf outing and crab feed on Wednesday at the Beaver Creek Country Club Golf Course, near Hagerstown.

The golf tournament will feature a noon shotgun start. The crab feed starts at 6 p.m.

Marbles championship hits Middletown


The United States Marbles Championship tournament will be held Aug. 2-3 at the Middletown Frederick County Park in Middletown, Md. This year's tournament will begin with opening ceremonies at 8 a.m. and the preliminary round at 8:30 a.m.

The U.S. Marbles Championship is open to all amateur and professional players.

Hedgesville to hold volleyball meeting


Hedgesville High School will have a meeting on Aug. 6, at 7 p.m. in its gym for anyone interested in playing volleyball.

This meeting is for parents and athletes. Please park at the back of the building to get to the gym.
