Editor's note - Please be as brief as possible when calling Mail Call, The Daily Mail's reader call-in line.

Mail Call is not staffed on weekends or holidays so it is best to call Mail Call during the week. The Mail Call number is 301-791-6236.

You are welcome to leave a recorded message on any subject, but some calls will be screened out.

Here are some of the calls we have received lately:

"I was just reading the paper about the City Council wanting to enact a new law regarding pit bulls. I think, for the most part, it's good as far as drug dealers are concerned. I have a son who has two pit bulls. They are the most even-tempered, sweet dogs you could ever meet. These dogs are not used for drug deals or anything like that. I don't see anything wrong with them having to pay a $50 registration fee but this is a young man with a baby. How is he supposed to be able to pay to get insurance of up to $50,000 on each dog? That is just a little bit ridiculous. Not everyone who owns a pit bull uses them to protect their drug dealings or uses them aggressively to try to scare people. There are decent and respectable people in this town who just love that breed of dog."

"When is the state DMV going to wake up and make mandatory senior citizen driver's license testing? As the major accident showed in California, a car was driven by an 86-year-old man and he plowed through a farmers market and killed 10 people, including a 3-year-old. This could have easily been stopped by having mandatory testing of anyone over the age of 65 for a driver's license. Everyone's skills diminish over time and the only way to make our streets safe is to get the people who can't drive correctly and safely off the road."

"I am calling about the Fairgrounds walking course. My husband and I walk there every day and this ordinance that they are supposed to pass about walking the dogs there, not walking them on leashes, not picking up after them. I am just wondering what it is going to be like once they pass the law."

"I lost a cane in the parking lot of the Salem Avenue 7-Eleven. It is white enamel with tiny blue flowers all over it. If you found it or know where it is, call 301-791-0146. I need my cane."

"In reference to the Mail Call about that tax credit. You don't know what you are talking about because everyone gets it, $400 per family and there is no certain limit to your income. This is from the IRS."

"There needs to be a Maryland law banning cell phone use while driving. The other night I had a woman following me in my car on Jefferson Boulevard and for about a half mile she had her hands hanging in the air. One hand was holding a cell phone, no hands on the steering wheel. People, you need to contact your legislators."

"Does anyone remember the Majestic hot dogs and, if so, does anyone have the recipe for the topping on the hot dog?"
