The Davises

Gordon and Ruth Davis celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Feb. 28, 2003. Due to scheduling conflicts, family and friends gathered on a later date at the Evangel Baptist Church fellowship hall in Hagerstown for a surprise party hosted by their children.

The Davises were married at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Baltimore in 1953. Mrs. Davis's father, who was pastor of the church, gave his daughter in marriage and then performed the ceremony with the Rev. S. J. McFarland of Laurel, Md.

Mr. and Mrs. Davis owned and operated Gordon's Tastee Freez in Chewsville, Md., and, later, Execo Offices Services Inc. in Hagerstown. Now retired, they raise honeybees as owners of Bee Tree Farms.

They have six children and 10 grandchildren.

The Bowmans were married May 22, 1953, in the parsonage of First Christian Church in Hagerstown by the Rev. William D. Norment, now deceased.
