Theodore Z. Michalsky


WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Theodore Z. Michalsky, 87, of 9578 Mentzer Gap Road, died Thursday, July 17, 2003, at Waynesboro Hospital.

Born March 17, 1916, in Altoona, Pa., he was the son of the late Frank Michalsky and Bessie Maliszczak Michalsky Kmetyk.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha M. McKean Michalsky, in 2002. They were married Sept. 10, 1937.

He attended Ambridge High School.

Prior to retiring in 1981, he was a machine repairman at Mack Trucks in Hagerstown.

He attended Seventh-day Adventist Church in Waynesboro.

He was a member of United Auto Workers Union and National AARP.

He is survived by four sons, Terry D. Michalsky of Greencastle, Pa., Larry O. Michalsky, Rodney D. Michalsky and Lynn R. Michalsky, all of Waynesboro; a sister, Verna Lipscomb of Sparks, Nev.; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Andrew Kmetyk; an infant daughter, Leilani E. Michalsky; a son, Edward L. Michalsky; a sister, Julia Matsik; a brother, Edward Michalsky; and a half sister, Phyllis Cunningham.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. Pastor Thomas Hennlein will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Willie J. Hilliard


SHENANDOAH JUNCTION, W.Va. - Willie J. Hilliard, 69, of Shenandoah Junction, died Thursday, July 17, 2003, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born Feb. 12, 1934, in Shenandoah Junction, he was the son of the late Paul W. and Edith Turner Hilliard.

He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War.

He was a member of New Hope Assembly of God in Shepherdstown, W.Va.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Bussard Hilliard; two daughters, Willia J. Dunn of Bunker Hill, W.Va., and Mary C. Kranenberg of Martinsburg; a son, Jeffrey Hilliard of Martinsburg; three stepsons, Elmer Ecton Jr. of Hagerstown, Monte Ecton of Sharpsburg and Michael Ecton of Clear Spring; five sisters, Elizabeth Warthman of Lakeland, Fla., Marie Crum of Shepherdstown, Lois Penwell of Martinsburg, Sarah Rubush of Dunnellon, Fla., and Pat Cummings of Bakerton, W.Va.; a brother, Daniel Hilliard of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren, including Daniel A. Hilliard, whom he raised; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Naomi Ainsworth, and a brother, James Hilliard.

Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at New Hope Assembly of God in Shepherdstown. The Rev. Richard Godfrey will officiate. Military graveside services will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.

Neoma J. Coleman


WILLIAMSPORT - Neoma Jennie Hurl Coleman, 90, of Homewood Retirement Center, formerly of Friedens, Pa., died Thursday, July 17, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Sept. 21, 1912, in Lancaster, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Martin L. and Mary E. Lee Hurl.

Her husband of 69 years, John Dwight Coleman, died in 2001.

She and her husband owned and operated Coleman Motors in Friedens for 30 years.

She was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church, where she was a member of Lutheran Church Women.

She was a member of Trinity Chapter 138 Order of the Eastern Star, Friedens Fire Co. Auxiliary, Friedens Homemakers and Daughters of the American Revolution.

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Pile of Hagerstown; a brother, Martin L. Hurl Jr. of Rockwood, Pa.; four grandchildren, Brian Pile, Kevin Pile and Karla McSherry, all of Hagerstown, and Denise Wood of Tampa, Fla.; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Myrtle Davis and Betty Heckler, and two brothers, Emory Hurl and Raymond Hurl.

Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Friedens Lutheran Church in Friedens. The Rev. Edward V. Devore will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Deaner Funeral Home in Stoystown, Pa., where an Eastern Star service will be held at 2 p.m. There also will be viewing Monday from noon to 1 p.m. at the church.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 27, at 2 p.m. at Homewood in Williamsport.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Friedens Lutheran Church, Friedens, PA 15541.




Charlotte Ibarrondo


CAMDEN, N.J. - Charlotte Ibarrondo, 54, of Camden, died Tuesday, July 15, 2003, in Cherry Hill, N.J.

Born Feb. 20, 1949, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Blanche Peterson Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Ibarrondo.
