Theater festival continues shows through Aug. 3

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - The 13th season of the Contemporary American Theater Festival continues with four new works of American theater on two stages at Shepherd College through Sunday, Aug. 3.

Under-the-Tent lectures will be at 4:30 p.m. Saturdays through Aug. 2 on the front lawn of the Frank Center for the Creative Arts.

There will be a staged reading of "The Clandestine Crossing," a new play by Kevin Glover, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, in the Studio Theater.

In "The Last Schwartz," a comedy written by Deborah Zoe Laufer and directed by Lucie Tiberghien, a traditional family gathering becomes the occasion for telling truths and revealing secrets.

"Whores," by award-winning playwright Lee Blessing, directed by Ed Herendeen, is a fictionalized account of the rape and murder of three American nuns and a Catholic lay worker by soldiers in 1980 in El Salvador.
