Tubers found safe after hour search

BRUNSWICK, Md. - Four rescue boats and approximately 20 rescue personnel searched for an hour for seven tubers on the Potomac River who were reported missing but turned out to have gotten out of the river earlier than anticipated, a fire official said Saturday.

The tubers were reported missing around 5 p.m. after they failed to show up at a prearranged meeting point, said Fire Chief Roy Lipscomb with Brunswick Volunteer Fire Co.

Rescuers did pick up six tubers who had trouble in swift rapids near Knoxville Falls, Lipscomb said.
