Charles L. Johnson


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Charles L. "Bob" Johnson, 82, of Manor Care Health Care and Rehabilitation, 1070 Stouffer Ave., and formerly of 6088 Honeywood Ave., St. Thomas, Pa., died Thursday, July 10, 2003, at Manor Care.

Born March 13, 1921, in Clearfield, Pa., he was the son of the late Robert I and Ruth M. Wright Johnson.

He retired from Penn Dot, where he was a flagman for six years.

He attended Freedom in Christ Church in Chambersburg.

He was a member of AARP of Chambersburg.

He is survived by his wife, Clara Belle Cover Johnson; a son, Jack J. Johnson of Chambersburg; a sister, Bernice H. Johnson of Chambersburg; two brothers, Guy Johnson and Jack W. Johnson, both of Chambersburg; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Faye V. Kling.

Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, St. Thomas. The Revs. John Pogue and George Pogue Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, which will open at 2 p.m. Monday.




Alice G. Schaeffer


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Alice Green Schaeffer, 91, of 840 Stouffer Ave., died Thursday, July 10, 2003, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Nov. 6, 1911, in Lovettesville, Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Estelle Green.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Schaeffer, in 1962. They were married March 22, 1934.

She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Chambersburg.

She graduated from Frederick Memorial Hospital as a registered nurse.

She worked at the Washington County Hospital for many years.

She was a member of Chambersburg Country Club where she was the Ladies Golf Champion in 1954.

She was active in numerous volunteer activities.

She is survived by nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Chambersburg. The Rev. Pamela Kinter will officiate.

Graveside services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Frederick, Md.

There will be no viewing.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 750 Norland Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Claude M. Norris Jr.


Claude McKinley Norris Jr., 75, of Mulberry Street, Hagerstown, died Friday, July 11, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Dec. 14, 1927, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Claude McKinley Sr. and Mary Nunamaker Norris.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Lorraine McClay Norris, in 1985.

He was employed by W.D. Byron Tannery in Williamsport, retiring in 1990.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by two daughters, Diane L. Railing and Christine Alexander, both of Hagerstown; four sons, Ronald M. Norris, Richard E. Norris and James F. Norris, all of Hagerstown, and Steven M. Norris of Marlowe, W.Va.; a sister, Claudine Kinzer of Williamsport; a brother, Donald Norris of Hagerstown; a special friend, Barbara Heard of Hagerstown; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Vivian Dewease and Dorothy A. Ditch.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, Williamsport. The Rev. Robert V. Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will open at 9 a.m.




Joyce A. Seal


CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Joyce Ann Seal, 65, of Charles Town died Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at Evergreen Health and Rehabilitation Center in Winchester, Va.

Born Sept. 16, 1937, in Jefferson County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Hubert L. Dodson and Flossie A. Burcker Dodson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. "Sonny" Seal, in 1995.

She attended Charles Town High School.

She worked as a nurse's aide for several local nursing homes.

She was a Baptist.

She is survived by a son, Charles M. Seal of Kearneysville, W.Va.; six sisters, Elizabeth Slusher, Vanda Gaynor, Janice Riddleberger and Martha Wilt, all of Charles Town, Mary E. Boyer of Shenandoah Junction, W.Va., and Margaret Mills of Inwood, W.Va.; and a brother, Hubert Dodson of Inwood.

She was preceded in death by three sons, Jeffrey S. Seal, Timothy W. Seal and Michael Seal.

A memorial service will be held Monday, July 21, at 2 p.m. at Charles Town Baptist Church. The Rev. Wyman Hall will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens in Martinsburg, W.Va.

There will be no visitation.

Joseph J. Wojnaroski


Joseph J. "Ski" Wojnaroski, 86, of Hagerstown and formerly of Annapolis, died Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
