Police make staff changes

July 09, 2003|by GREGORY T. SIMMONS

Hagerstown City Police made several administrative staff changes effective June 30, following two retirements last month.

Mike King was promoted from sergeant to lieutenant, replacing retired Lt. Jack Hall as the B Platoon commander. King was a supervisor in the Criminal Investigations Division.

Sgt. Curt Wood moved from the Street Crimes Division as a supervisor to replace King in the Criminal Investigations post.

Sgt. James Robinson moved from the B Platoon as a supervisor to replace Wood in Street Crimes.

Capt. Charles Summers, in charge of field operations, said the B Platoon temporarily would be one sergeant short, working with two instead of three.

Summers didn't say how long it would be before a new sergeant was appointed, but said it would depend on how the new recruits scheduled to begin this month work out.

Sgt. George Knight is filling the planning/research position that had been held by retired Lt. Gary Spielman. Summers said the lieutenant position will remain open until next year because of budget constraints.
