Lloyd O. Miller Jr.


WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Lloyd O. Miller Jr., 75, of 209 Ringgold St., died Tuesday, July 1, 2003, at Waynesboro Hospital.

Born Feb. 11, 1928, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Lloyd O. Miller Sr. and Catherine E. Wolff Miller.

He was a 1945 graduate of Waynesboro High School. He took banking courses.

Prior to retiring in 1990, he worked for First National Bank of Waynesboro as a manager of the small loans department and was assistant vice president.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a member of Otterbein United Brethren in Christ Church in Waynesboro and the Mixed Adult Sunday School Class. He was treasurer and a trustee.

He was a member of National AARP; served as a Boy Scout district commissioner; executive board member of Mason-Dixon Council of Boy Scouts of America, among other Boy Scout positions; received a 40 year pin for distinguished service within the Tuscarora District; and Vigil Honor of the Order of the Arrow, among other Boy Scout awards.

He is survived by his wife, D. Elaine Kauffman Miller, whom he married March 13, 1949; one daughter, Judith L. Wright of Inwood, W.Va.; one son, Jeffrey L. Miller of Naples, Fla.; one sister, Jean Walters of Chambersburg, Pa.; one brother, David Miller of Waynesboro; one grandson; two stepgrandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Audrey J. Miller.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. Pastor Michael V. Newman will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Harry G. Calimer


FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Harry G. Calimer, 75, of the Village of Laurel Run, and formerly of 10270 Old Forge Road, Waynesboro, Pa., died Wednesday, July 2, 2003, at the nursing home.

Born April 19, 1928, in Franklin County, Pa., he was the son of the late George W. and Edna Mohn Calimer.

He attended Roadside School.

He retired in 1991 from Washington Township, Pa., where he was a laborer for 21 years.

He attended Glen Furney Assembly of God Church and Calvary Assembly of God Church, both in Waynesboro.

He is survived by one sister, Carrie C. Russell of Waynesboro; and one nephew.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home in Waynesboro. The Rev. Walter A. Stuart will officiate. Burial will be in Harbaugh Church Cemetery, near Rouzerville, Pa.

The family will receive friends Monday at the funeral home at 10 a.m.




Harry E. Mills


BIG POOL - Harry Eugene "Smoke" Mills, 74, of Mooresville Road, died Tuesday, July 1, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Nov. 8, 1928, in Mooresville, he was the son of the late Harry O. and Grace R. Miller Mills.

He retired from Western Maryland Railroad in Hagerstown.

He was a member of Mooresville Church of God in Big Pool.

He was a member of Western Maryland Sportsman's Club.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannette M. Ness Mills, whom he married Jan. 15, 1949; one daughter, Dolores M. Lourdon of Boonsboro; two sons, Kenneth E. Mills of Big Pool and Edward H. Mills of Clear Spring; three sisters, Regina Myers of Big Pool, Catherine Canard of Rockville, Md. and Margaret Northern of Poolesville, Md.; two brothers, Robert O. Mills of Big Pool and Wayne E. Mills of Clear Spring; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Lena Tavenner, Eleanore Gray, Reba Atherton and Patricia Crouse; and two brothers, John Mills and Albert Mills.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mooresville Church of God, Big Pool. The Revs. Dean Metcalfe and Paul Moore will officiate. Burial will be in Parkhead Cemetery, Big Pool.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Donald E. Thompson Funeral Home, Clear Spring.

Nickolaus T. Jordan


PAW PAW, W.Va. - Nickolaus Tristin Cole Jordan, 16, of Paw Paw, died Monday, June 30, 2003, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 2, 1986, in Hagerstown, and was the son of Crystal Lynn Smith Powell and Robert James Lee Powell of Paw Paw and Wayne E. Jordan of Hagerstown.

He would have entered the junior class at Paw Paw schools this fall. He played basketball, was a weightlifter, loved music and computers and being with his friends.

Surviving in addition to his parents are maternal grandmother, Thelma Smith of Hagerstown; paternal grandparents, Blaine and Anna Jordan of Magnolia, W.Va; paternal grandfather, Floyd Peters of Paw Paw; two sisters, Tasha Jordan of Paw Paw and Lesan Powell of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; two brothers, Damian Powell of Paw Paw and Denton Powell of Berkeley Springs; a special love was dedicated by Nickolaus to Leah Decker of Paw Paw and Tyrone Spencer of Paw Paw.
