MERCERSBURG, Pa. - An autopsy was to be performed today on a Greencastle, Pa., woman killed Monday in a one-car accident in an attempt to determine if she or someone else was the driver of the vehicle, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Cathy Jane Daley, 51, of 15125 Maryland Line Road, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 5:48 p.m. accident, which occurred four-tenths of a mile south of Pa. 16 on Pa. 416 in Montgomery Township, Pa.

Neither police nor Franklin County Coroner Jeffrey R. Conner have released the cause or manner of death, pending the results of the autopsy, which is being performed at Lehigh Valley Medical Center in Allentown, Pa.

"Part of that will be to determine whether there were injuries consistent with her being the driver of the car," Sgt. James Brown said Tuesday. That could include injuries caused by seat belts or the steering wheel that would indicate whether Daley was in the driver's seat.

According to police, the 1989 Ford Escort was southbound on Pa. 416 when it went off the road, struck a guardrail and the left side of the car hit a utility pole.

Brown said a person who may have been in the vehicle was questioned by police. Brown did not divulge the name of the person.
