WINCHESTER, Va. - Terry Ronan hit a game-ending two-run home run in the seventh inning Sunday to lead Denbigh (Va.) to a 6-4 victory to eliminate Funkstown Post 211 in the semifinals of the Winchester Firecracker American Legion Tournament.

Phillip Powell had two hits, including an RBI single in Funkstown's three-run fifth for a 4-3 lead. Kyle Robinson capped the rally with a two-run double.

Starting pitcher T.J. Hose struck out six in six innings for Funkstown (18-9), which finished third in the tournament.


District 1 9-10

Federal 10, Valley 9: Federal used an eight-run second inning to get the victory. Max Psillas drove in three runs, while Steven Coccodrilli had two hits in the win. Jack Schwartz had two doubles and three RBI for Valley while Ryne Willard added two doubles and Ben Daniels and Aaron Dinterman had 2 hits.

Valley 18, Maugansville 6: Zane Garver doubled, tripled and drove in three runs while Aaron Dinterman, Cameron Morral, Jack Schwartz, Ryne Willard had two hits each for Valley. Jake Bachtell had two hits for Maugansville.


Oakland 11, Sharpsburg 5: Cody Myers and Ryan Bennett had two hits each for Oakland. Evan Marshall led Sharpsburg with two hits.

Federal 11, Clear Spring 0: Winning pitcher Christian Binford fired a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts and had two hits to lead Federal. Steven Coccodrilli added a three-run double.

Conococheague 8, Halfway 6: Steven Cristy had three hits, while Andrew Moats and Nate Willis added two hits for Conococheague. Tyler Miles had two hits for Halfway.

National 14, South Mountain 9: Brett Barr, Ben Stone, Trevor Haupt and Jordan Nicewarner each had two hits for National. Brandon Nokes and Brandon Foote each two hits for South Mountain.

West End 9, American 6: Aaron Stoner tossed a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts and had two hits to lead West End. Mick Stubb drove in two runs for American.

District 1 Juniors

Oakland 11, South County 10: Jason Ashby had four hits, including a home run, and Shane Weaver added four hits to lead Oakland. Will Dayhoff and Allen Beard had two hits each for South County.

Maugansville 23, Conococheague 17: Kevin Reeden and Greg Luhouse each had three hits each while Cris Benner and Andy Lytle added two to lead Maugansville. Andrew Minella had two doubles for Conococheague.

Valley 22, Hancock 8: Chris Blickenstaff, Kevin Tyler and Ryan Lipella had three hits each to lead Valley. Brad Logsdon and Ryan Wilson added two hits each in the win.

Conococheague 11, Clear Spring 2: Eric Imes struck out 12 and and had two hits to lead Conocheague. Andrew Twigg, Bo Price, Cullen Hemphill and Andrew Minella added two hits in the win. Derek Dyer had two hits for Clear Spring.

South County 9, Hancock 8

District 1 Seniors

Maugansville 10, Concocheague 0: Brian Barnhart pitched a one-hitter and Chris Miller hit a two-run homer to lead Maugansville. Zack Light went 3-for-3, including two ground-rule doubles, in the win.

Maugansville 18 Clear Spring 3: Brian Barnhart was 4-for-4, in cluding a home run, while Kent Worthington and Chris Miller each went 3-for-3 to lead Maugansville.

Hagerstown PONY League

F&M 17, UAW 7: Kenny Shanholtz had three hits, including two home runs, and five RBI and Tim Jacobson added two home runs to lead F&M. Kyle Kane added two hits. Justin Bussard had three hits and Ricky Collins added two hits for UAW.

Hagerstown Floors 6, Eagles 4: Adam Merrbaugh struck out 14 and combined with Aaron Dixon on a two-hitter to lead Hagerstown Floors. Brandon Rohrer hit a two-run homer in the win. Billy Shubert and Kyle Beers combined on a two-hitter for the Eagles.

Eagles 5, Elks 4: Ryan Heavner had three hits, including a homer, while Ryan Ianaro added two hits for the Eagles. Derrick Hendershot had two hits for Elks.

Redmen 16, Hagerstown Floors 11: Paul Merson had two hits, including a homer, and Cadyn Robinson had three hits to lead Redmen. Mark Dattilio had two hits in the win. Pat Mertz had three hits for Hagerstown Floors.

UAW 15, Firefighters 7: Lucas Lichtenburg had three hits, including a home run and a grand slam, while Justin Bussard added five hits to pace UAW. Ricky Collins, Chad Bikle and Kyle Cunningham added three hits each in the win. Brendan Palmer had a two-run homer for Firefighters.

F&M 9, Jeter Paving 7: Kenny Shanholtz homered twice and Kyle Kane had three hits to lift F&M. Guido Roche also homered and Eric Wilfong added two hits in the win. Zeke Rickets had two hits for Jeter.

Hagerstown Colt League

FOP 5, Goodwill 4: Justin Marshall had two hits and drove in winning run in the bottom of seventh to lead FOP while Josh Ruppenthal added two hits.


Funkstown 15-16 Charles Town 10-8

Jordan Beard had three hits and four RBI and Patrick Hutzler drove in three runs with two hits to lead Funkstown to a win in a doubleheader sweep of Charles Town.

Matt Murray add three hits and Jeremy McAfee had two for Funkstown in the opener.
