Food service inspections

June 30, 2003

The following food service establishments were inspected by the Washington County Health Department in May and found to have critical violations that needed to be corrected immediately:

  • El Ranchero. 1580 Wesel Blvd., Hagerstown. Must keep all product covered in refrigeration unit, store all wipe cloths in sanitizer, clean lip of ice machine and repair dish machine; must not block hand sink (corrected); *must not have personnel drinks in preparation area (corrected); must store all product 4 inches off the floor of walk-in; must repair lights in hood; need to clean hood system and floor of walk-in.

  • North American Rod and Gun Club. 12108 Belvedere Road, Hagerstown. *Must not store apple pie near raw meats (corrected); light bulb in walk-in refrigerator must be shielded; must replace light bulb in walk-in freezer; must have thermometers in all refrigerator/freezer units.

  • Tony's New York Pizza. 14224 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. *Meat sauce must be 140 degrees or above at all times (corrected); can opener blade needs to be cleaned; exhaust hood filters over both cooking lines need to be cleaned; items must be off the floor in walk-in freezer; floor needs to be cleaned in walk-in freezer; all light bulbs must be shielded; trash area needs to be clean and lids need to be closed at all times.

  • Richardson's Restaurant. 701 Dual Highway, Hagerstown. *Tartar sauce cups must be surrounded by ice (corrected); must not store items in hand sink (corrected); light bulbs must be replaced in exhaust hood over range; must clean walk-in floors, freezer shelves, cooking line floors, all cooking equipment inside and outside and bottom shelf of breading table.

  • Camp Louise. 24959 Pen Mar Road, Cascade. *Severely dented can must be discarded (corrected); must clean the floor of walk-in freezer.

  • Teriyaki Temple and Kelly's Cajun. 17301 Valley Mall Road, Hagerstown. *Hot food (chicken and beef) must be reheated to 165 degrees and kept at 140 degrees (corrected); must not store food on floor; hand-washing supplies needed at hand sink; food cannot be stored under fly strips (corrected); must clean floor under and around equipment; single service articles must be covered in storage; current state license must be displayed.

  • Allegheny Energy. 10435 Downsville Pike, Hagerstown. *Must discard severely dented can (corrected); can opener needs to be cleaned; must clean top of dish machine.

  • Food Lion. 22401 Jefferson Blvd., Smithsburg. *Meat loaf and lasagna must be at least 140 degrees (corrected); peeling and chipping paint near sink must be repaired.

  • China Buffet. 1041 Maryland Ave., Hagerstown. *Hot foods must be reheated to 165 degrees and kept at 140 degrees (corrected); paper towels needed at hand sink (corrected); must clean can opener (corrected); food must not be stored on floor of walk-in freezer; must clean the floor of walk-in freezer; hand sink in men's room must be repaired; three-compartment sink must not be used to store food, dishes and aprons; back door of restaurant must be closed at all times.

  • Boston Market. 1620 Wesel Blvd., Hagerstown. *Cheese must be stored at 45 degrees or below (corrected); hand sink must not be blocked (corrected); must replace light bulb under hood.
