Nan A. Butterton

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Nan Anna Pflug Butterton, 97, of Berkeley Springs and formerly of Warfordsburg, Pa., died Friday, June 27, 2003, at Valley View Nursing Home in Berkeley Springs.

Born Dec. 13, 1905, in Loomis, Wash., she was the daughter of the late John George and Anna Marie Petrich Pflug.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Albert Butterton.

She attended public schools in Washington state.

She was a homemaker.

She was a Seventh-day Adventist.

She is survived by two daughters, F. Yvonne L. Raub of Welmar, Calif., and Anna M. Essex of Hedgesville, W.Va.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Clara M. McGivern; four sisters, Lena J. Fluette, Elizabeth A. Mowbray, Emma F. Pflug and Martha Pflug; and five brothers, William J. Pflug, Alfred W. Pflug, Charles H. Pflug, George J. Pflug and Max Pflug.


Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs. Pastor Hal Butman will officiate.

Private burial will be in Terrace Heights Memorial Park, Terrace Heights, Wash.

Memorial donations may be made to Fairview Seventh-day Adventist Church, Yakima, Wash.

Jessie A. Hutson

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Jessie Ann Hutson, 78, of 293 Leisure Way and formerly of Harpers Ferry Road, who died Friday, June 27, 2003, was born in Mount Jackson, Va.

Daniel F. Ricketts

Daniel Franklin Ricketts, 67, of the United Cerebral Palsy Home, 18321 College Road, Hagerstown, died Friday, June 27, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Jan. 13, 1936, in Frederick, Md., he was the son of the late Herman H. and Loretta Jane Burger Ricketts.

He was a member of the Day Care Center of Hagerstown.

He is survived by a brother, Eugene S. Burger of Frederick, three aunts, an uncle, and nieces and nephews.

Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. The Rev. Elmer R. Breeden will officiate.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, Frederick.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to UCP, 600 Salem Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Clarence H. Clark

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Clarence H. Clark, 54, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, June 28, 2003, at his home.

Born Aug. 4, 1948, in Martinsburg, he was the son of Leslie Clark and the late Nellie Dozier Clark.

He was a 1971 graduate of Shepherd College and received his master's degree from West Virginia University in 1984.

He was a teacher for the past 28 years at Shepherdstown Junior High School.

He was a member of St. John's Baptist Church in Shepherdstown and attended St. Luke's United Methodist Church.

He was a member of the Optimist Club, Phi Delta Kappa and Omega Psi Phi.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Rosa Tross Clark; a son, David Clark of Tacoma, Wash.; two sisters, Betty Newman of Charles Town, W.Va. and Veda Brown of Martinsburg; a brother, Richard G. Clark of Shepherdstown; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John T. Clark.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. Pastor John R. Yost and the Revs. Joe D. Liles and Ernest D. Lyles will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Shepherdstown Junior High School, Shepherdstown, WV 25443.
