Fort Loudon bicentennial events

FORT LOUDON, Pa. - The remaining ceremonies and celebrations for the Fort Loudon Bicentennial are as follows:

- Today: Patriot Day - Parade in village, 6 p.m.; musical entertainment by Cumberland Highway.

- Tuesday, June 24: Senior Citizens Day - Fashion show, "200 Years of Fashion," 7:30 p.m.; Mason-Dixon Barbershop Chorus, 9 p.m.

- Wednesday, June 25: Founder's Day - Services at Stenger Hill Cemetery, dedication of veterans memorial, 7:30 p.m.; New Country Band, 9 p.m.

- Thursday, June 26: Children's Day - Time capsule burial, 7 p.m.; Children's programs, including a clown, games, balloons, face painting and a karaoke show by Phantom Shadow, 7:30 p.m.


- Friday, June 27: Loudon Heritage Day - Flea market and yard sales, 9 a.m.; U.S. Army Blues Jazz Ensemble, 7:30 p.m.; first performance of the pageant, "Fort Loudon, Celebrating Her Past, Honoring Her People," 9 p.m.

- Saturday, June 28: Homecoming Day - U.S. Postal Service pictorial stamp cancellation at the community grounds, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; arts and crafts fair at the community grounds, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; black powder shoot at the Fort Loudon State Historic Site, 9 a.m.; chicken barbecue, noon; Homes of Our Heritage home and garden tour, noon to 4 p.m.; Mercersburg (Pa.) Area Community Band, 7:30 p.m.; second performance of pageant, 9 p.m.; fireworks follow the pageant.

- Sunday, June 29: Pioneer Day - Community picnic featuring basket lunch auction, period games and music, square dancing, and cake walk, noon; trolley tours, 1 to 4 p.m.

Throughout the week, there will be historical exhibits and a train display at the library. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to the events.
