FREDERICK, Md. - Jeff Mills pitched four innings of shutout relief and Matt Hess singled home David Miner to break a 6-6 tie in the top of the sixth inning, as Funkstown won its second game 7-6 over Frederick on Sunday.

Funkstown fell 12-9 in nine innings to Mt. Airy in its first game.

Funkstown's Phillip Powell tied the second game 6-6 with a solo home run in the fifth inning, while Hess finished with three hits and Miner had two.

Miner went 4-for-4 for Funkstown (13-8-1, 6-5) in the first game, while Adam Dick went 3-for-5 and Bryson Appel added two hits.

Williamsport 15-5 Waynesboro 7-10

WILLIAMSPORT - Marty Kaetzel had three hits, while Andy Taylor and Nathan Himes each had two hits and Josh Bowers struck out nine in six innings, as Williamsport won the first of two against Waynesboro.


Jeremy Geesaman, who had three hits in the first game, added three more in the second to lead Waynesboro to the win. Winning pitcher Shawn Hyndman also had three hits for Waynesboro in the first game.

Brad Stotelmyer, Aaron Davis and Zeb Jacobs each had two hits for Williamsport in the second game.


Brunswick 7-3 Greencastle 3-0

BRUNSWICK, Md. - Joey Hart pitched five shutout innings, allowing only two hits while striking out eight, and John Mangold hit a three-run homer, as Brunswick (13-3, 12-3) completed the sweep of Greencastle.

In the first game, Brunswick's John Sechler pitched six shutout innings with 10 strikeouts, while Jayson Mobley hit a three-run homer, Gerrad Talkington had two doubles, Brad Lowe doubled and singled and Kevin Goode went 3-for-4.

Hagerstown 12, Roxbury 0

ROXBURY, Pa. - Jamus Peterman threw a five-inning, two-hit shutout with seven strikeouts and the Hagerstown Braves exploded for seven runs in the fifth for a 12-0 victory over the Roxbury Royals on Saturday night.

Kevin Crawford went 3-for-4 with two RBI, while Pat Sweeney, Zack Swisher and Quenton Rouse all had two hits and John Quail drove in two runs for Hagerstown (17-1, 16-1).


Funkstown 11-4, Winchester 3-0: Matt Murray and Jordan Beard both hit three-run homers for Funkstown in the first game, while Jeremy McAfee hit a two-run homer, Orland Dean had three hits and Patrick Hutzler had two hits. In the second game for Funkstown, B.J. Soto pitched a four-hit shutout with six strikeouts, while Murray hit another three-run homer and Dean and Hutzler each had two hits.

Charles Town 8-7, Williamsport Senators 3-8: Corey Itnyre had two hits in the first game for Williamsport. Derek Hadley, Tyler Beard and Bobby Riggs each had two hits as Williamsport (8-5) completed the sweep of Charles Town (3-8).


Halfway Little League

Gehr 6, Hoffman 4: Brandon McCauley, Dylan Zimmerman and Kyle Stone each had two hits for Gehr. Andrew Duff had two hits for Hoffman.

Redmen 11, Gibney's 7: Zach Weber and John Moser each had three hits for Redmen, while Cody Whiteman homered. Adam Weaver and Josh Cline each had three hits for Gibney's, while Chris Stoner homered.

Halfway Minor League

Carquest 16, FOP 6: Chad Bean, Aaron Buechling and Nick Martin each had two hits for Carquest, while Chance Younker and Bean combined for 11 strikeouts. Eddie Fear had two hits for FOP.

UAW 14, Hopewell 9: Conner Grimsley and Jordan Crilly each had two hits for UAW. Tyler Barger had three hits for Hopewell, while Devin Baker had two hits.

Hagerstown Colt League

Eagles 11, Cascade American Legion 3: Matt Sweigert pitched a five-hitter with 10 strikeouts for Eagles, while Zach Myers and Steve Picone each had two hits. Chip Stover and Alan Tollentino each had two hits for Cascade.

Hagerstown PONY League

Elks 5, Eagles 0: Chuck Dobson pitched a complete-game three-hitter with 18 strikeouts for Elks, while Scott Myers homered. Ryan Heavner pitched a complete-game two-hitter with 15 strikeouts for Eagles.

Elks 4, UAW 2: Jason Sutherland hit two homers for Elks. Justin Bussard hit a two-run homer for UAW.

F&M 4, Redmen 3: Todd Jacobsen had three hits, including the game-winning single, while Kyle Kane had two hits for F&M. Jeff Ryan had two hits for Redmen.

Conococheague LL

Redmen 5, Wolfe's 3: Jesse Buchman and Steve Siler combined for a four-hitter, while Buchman had three hits and Siler had two hits for Redmen. Justin Hott had two hits for Wolfe's.

Conococheague Jr. League

Homewood 9, Redmen 0: Matt Coates pitched a one-hitter with eight strikeouts for Homewood, while Mike Hockensmith had two hits and two RBI and Tyler Spigler had two hits.

Post 202 13, Sportsland 9: Jeremy Spangler had four hits for Post 202, while Andrew Twigg, Bo Price and Aaron Miles each had three hits and Brent Decker and Cullen Hemphill each had two hits. Jackson Hopkins had three hits for Sportsland, while Bradley Hewitt and John Sanders each had two hits.

Maugansville Little League

Ruritan 12, Brewers Saab 2: Ryan Cooper, Josh Bachtell, Joel Henry and Jake Bachtell each had two hits for Ruritan.
