Aaron L. Staley

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Aaron Lewis Staley, 73, of 11948 North Woodlea Drive, Waynesboro, Pa., passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.

Born in Hagerstown on Monday, Nov. 11, 1929, he was the son of the late Aaron William Lewis Staley and Janet Barbara Faulder Staley, who survives him, of Hagerstown.

He was the husband of Helen L. Staley. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eleanor Catherine Staley, in 1994.

He was employed by C&P Telephone, retiring after 38 years of service. He was a member of Washington Square United Methodist Church and served on the Board of Trustees.

He was a member of the C&P Telephone Pioneers and the Eagles Club Inc. of Waynesboro.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by daughter Kathy L., wife of Frank Morrisey of Smithsburg; son Keith, husband of Jane Staley of Middletown, Md. and son K. Todd husband of Wendy Staley of Hagerstown; sister, Faye M. Beane of Hagerstown; granddaughter, Cara Staley of Middletown, granddaughter, Cassie Staley of Middletown, granddaughter, Erin Morrisey of Smithsburg, grandson, Thomas Morrisey of Smithsburg, granddaughter, Sarah Beth Staley of Hagerstown and grandson, Aaron James Staley of Hagerstown.

Services will be held at Washington Square United Methodist Church, 538 Washington Ave., Hagerstown, on Friday, June 20, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Owen Womack officiating.

Interment will be at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.

Marie M. Gaver

CASCADE - Marie Mary Pryor Gaver, 64, of 25464 Military Road, died Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at Waynesboro (Pa.) Hospital.

Born Feb. 6, 1939, in Lantz, Md., she was the daughter of Emma Jane Smith Pryor Hankey of Fairfield, Pa. and the late Elvin E. Pryor Sr.

She was a 1957 graduate of Fairfield High School.

Prior to retiring in 2002, she was a counselor at Victor Cullen in Sabillasville, Md.

She was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Sabillasville, helped with the primary department and was active in the outreach program.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Floyd Eugene Gaver, whom she married June 9, 1957; one daughter, Jeanna M. Gladhill of St. Petersburg, Fla.; four sons, James E. Gaver of Pond Bank, Pa., Jonathon L. Gaver and Joel D. Gaver, both of Cascade, and Jeffrey E. Gaver of Shippensburg, Pa.; three sisters, E. Grace Mummert of Waynesboro, Louise F. Wetzel of Fairfield, Pa. and Gladys J. Wetzel of Blue Ridge Summit, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Clarence Hankey; one sister, Dorothy M. Pryor; and two brothers, Elvin E. Pryor Jr. and Harvey R. Pryor.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. The Rev. Barry Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel Church Cemetery, Cascade.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Raymond L. McCanns

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Raymond L. McCanns, 58, of 5500 Lincoln Way East Lot 3R, died Thursday, June 12, 2003, at his home.

Born June 15, 1944, in Chambersburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Stewart L. McCanns Sr. and Alice West McCanns.

He was a livestock dealer for Greencastle, Pa. Livestock.

He is survived by two daughters, Arlene McCanns and Wendy McCanns, both of Chambersburg; two sisters, Linda Fickes and Nancy Miller, both of Chambersburg; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Stewart McCanns.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. The Rev. George Mower will officiate.

Roland R. McSherry Sr.

Roland Rayburn McSherry Sr., 62, of 13106 Hyacinth Court, Hagerstown, died Monday, June 16, 2003, at his home.

Born July 14, 1940, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late James F. and Jennevie Bishop McSherry.

He was employed by Mack Trucks, retiring after 37 years.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He was a former member of the Maryland Terrapin Club.

He is survived by one daughter, Angela M. Reed of Williamsport; two sons, Roland R. McSherry Jr. and Bryan S. McSherry, both of Hagerstown; two sisters, Mary L. Bartles and Rosemarie Thompson, both of Hagerstown; three brothers, Ralph R. McSherry, Vernon L. McSherry and John E. McSherry, all of Hagerstown; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and six brothers.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
