Clarence A. Pepple Sr.


FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Clarence A. Pepple Sr., 88, of Village of Laurel Run Nursing Home, and formerly of Barr Road, Waynesboro, Pa., died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at the home.

Born Dec. 14, 1914, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late John and Bertha Wissinger Pepple.

His wife, Luray Louise Snider Pepple, died Sept. 7, 1954.

He attended Waynesboro schools.

He was employed by Frick Co., Waynesboro, as a crane operator, retiring in 1977.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

He is survived by one daughter, Lois M. Creager of Waynesboro; one son, Clarence A. Pepple Jr. of Hagerstown; two sisters, Dorothy Buck of Hagerstown, and Pauline Sperow of Waynesboro; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Priscilla R. Powell; two sons, Walter C. Alter and James Pepple; two sisters, Florence Hart and Anna Bond; and six brothers, Carl Pepple, Guy Pepple, Donald Pepple, Robert Pepple, Raymond Pepple and Glen Pepple.

Services and burial will be private.

There will be no public viewing.

Arrangements are by Cumberland Valley Crematorium, Waynesboro.




John J. Marlowe


WAYNESBORO, Pa. - John J. Marlowe, 63, of 300 W. Fifth St., died Thursday, June 12, 2003, at Beverly Healthcare Nursing Home, Fayetteville, Pa.

Born Jan. 29, 1940, in Harrisburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Spero A. Sr. and Juditha Petrascu Branoff.

He was a 1958 graduate of Steelton High School, Harrisburg.

He worked as an insurance salesperson.

He is survived by his wife, Golchehreh "Goli" Khakpour Malowe, whom he married April 16, 1990; a son; three sisters and four brothers.

He was preceded in death by one sister.

Services will be private with burial in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

There will be no public viewing.

Arrangements are by Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro.




Jonathan L. Rinker


HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Jonathan Luke Rinker, infant, of Harpers Ferry, died Monday, June 16, 2003, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born Sunday, June 15, 2003, in Martinsburg, he was the son of Larry Galen Jr. and Trudy Joe Painter Rinker of Harpers Ferry.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one brother, Justin A. Painter, at home; paternal grandmother, Bessie Rinker; maternal grandparents, Ralph Sr. and Judie J. Painter; four uncles; five aunts and three cousins.

He was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Larry Rinker Sr.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg. The Rev. Franklin Nick will officiate.

There will be no visitation.

Arrangements are by Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town, W.Va.




Bobby G. Barrett Sr.


KEEDYSVILLE - Bobby Gene Barrett Sr., 67, of Keedysville, died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at his home.

Born in Spice, W.Va., he was the son of the late Mitchell Jesse and Viola Pearl Wickline Barrett.

He attended Church of God Universal in Hagerstown.

He retired from the City of Brunswick, Md., in 1997, as a waste water operator.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Margaret May Hendrickson Barrett; one daughter, Darlene K. Barrett of Keedysville; five sons, Dr. Bobby G. Barrett Jr. of Martinsburg, W.Va., Mitchell H. Barrett of Hagerstown, Darrell O. Barrett of Frederick, Md., David L. Barrett of Brunswick, and William C. Barrett of Keedysville; one sister, Martha J. Zell of Eagle Rock, Va., and four grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, Hagerstown. Pastor Alvin Craig will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Vernon S. Dodson


MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Vernon Smith Dodson, 81, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at City Hospital.

Born July 8, 1921, in Sperryville, Va., he was the son of the late Frank and Vergie Jenkins Dodson.

He was employed at Dodson's Furniture Store.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served during World War II.

He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Janice I. Horine Dodson; one daughter, Jennifer A. Aulabaugh of Martinsburg; three sons, A. Craig Dodson, Stewart W. Dodson and David V. Dodson, all of Martinsburg; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers.

Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. Ken J. Fizer will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
