Paul E. Zeger


MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Paul E. Zeger, 85, of 3036 Brooklyn Road, died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at Penn Hall Nursing Center in Chambersburg, Pa.

Born Dec. 4, 1917, in St. Thomas, Pa., he was the son of the late J. Bard and Grace Wingert Zeger.

His wife, Vera G. Angle Zeger, died June 15, 1995. They were married May 21, 1941.

He was employed by the Tuscarora School District for 17 years, retiring in 1979.

He was a member of Greencastle (Pa.) Church of the Brethren.

He is survived by one daughter, Debra G. Myers of Mercersburg; two sons, Richard E. Zeger of Mercersburg, and Ronald L. Zeger of Greencastle; and two grandsons.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Paul E. Zeger Jr.; one sister, Kathryn G. Senseny; and three brothers, J. Stanley Zeger, Lester Zeger and Lloyd Zeger.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg. The Revs. Kenneth Gibble and Harold E. Yeager will officiate. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery.

Viewing will be Wednesday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Paula Silver


HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. - Paula Silver, 92, of Huntington Beach, and formerly of 614 E. Catherine St. in Chambersburg, Pa., died Wednesday, June 11, 2003, in California.

Born Feb. 22, 1911, in London, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Leah Starr.

Her husband, Leon Silver, died in 1982.

She was a member of Congregation Sons of Israel in Chambersburg, and Congregation Shir Ha-Ma'alot in Irvine, Calif.

She is survived by two sons, Jerry Silver of Newport Beach, Calif., and Herb Silver of Camp Hill, Pa.; and two grandchildren, Starla Silver and Brant Burkey, both of California.

She was preceded in death by one son, David Silver; two sisters; and two brothers.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, Chambersburg. Rabbi Carl Choper will officiate. Burial will be in Sons of Israel Cemetery, Chambersburg.

There will be no viewing.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:30 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ralph L. Dyer


MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Ralph Lee Dyer, 80, of 325 S. Jefferson St., died Saturday, June 14, 2003, at Frederick (Md.) Memorial Hospital.

Born July 13, 1922, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of the late Byron Lee and Mary Elizabeth Goodrick Dyer.

He was a 1940 graduate of Beall High School in Frostburg, Md., and a 1953 graduate of Frostburg State Teachers College.

He was employed as an elementary- and middle-school mathematics teacher in Frederick County, retiring in 1984.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving during World War II.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Middletown.

He was a member and past president of the Middletown Lions Club, from which he received the Melvin Jones Award. He also volunteered with the Food Bank.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Boettner Dyer, whom he married Nov. 8, 1942; two daughters, Karen L. Southall of Middletown, and Christy L. Chitwood of Astoria, Ore.; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Ralph L. Dyer Jr.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown. The Rev. William M. Bucher will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, Middletown, which will be open for friends to call at anytime, and Wednesday one hour prior to the services at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Middletown Lions Club.




Rodney E. Lizear


SILVER SPRING, Md. - Rodney Eugene Lizear, 56, formerly of Silver Spring, died Saturday, June 14, 2003, at the home of his daughter, Bunny James, 2739 Flintridge Drive, Myersville, Md.

Born June 26, 1946, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Arthur Eugene and Eunice Viola Hale Lizear.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Fay Lizear, on Aug. 23, 2002.

He was a plumber.

He is survived by two daughters, Bunny James of Myersville, and Tammy L. Warfield of Knoxville, Md.; two brothers, Michael Lizear of Kensington, Md., and Russell Leigh of Damascus, Md.; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Karen Stamates; and two brothers, Gary Lizear and Arthur Lizear.

Services for Mr. and Mrs. Lizear will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, Boonsboro. The Rev. Nancy Baker will officiate.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.




Judy M. Tyson


GLENGARY, W.Va. - Judy Madeline Tyson, 56, of Glengary, died Saturday, June 14, 2003, at her home.

Born Jan. 4, 1947, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of Charles and Hattie Jones Miller.
