Clear Spring girl dies in accident

LAVALE, Md. - A 16-year-old Clear Spring girl died and a Hagerstown girl was injured late Saturday in a four-vehicle accident on Interstate 68 in Allegany County, Maryland State Police said.

Kelly Peacher was the driver of a 1997 Hyundai Tiburon that police said was westbound on I-68 just each of Vocke Road at 10:15 p.m. Saturday when her vehicle collided with a westbound Ford Crown Victoria.

After the impact, the Crown Victoria came to rest on the shoulder at the guardrail, while Peacher's car ended up across the roadway and then was struck on the driver's side by a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that also was westbound, police said.

The fourth vehicle, another Chevrolet pickup, ran into the rear of the pickup that struck Peacher's car.

Marie Monroe, 18, of Hagerstown, was a passenger in Peacher's car. She was taken to Memorial Hospital in Cumberland, Md., Saturday night but no condition was available Sunday from hospital personnel.

Police said a third passenger, another juvenile girl from Clear Spring, also was injured. Her name wasn't released.

The driver of the pickup truck that hit Peacher's car also was injured and taken to Memorial Hospital. No condition was available Sunday night for Brian Skidmore, 34, of Ridgely, W.Va..

There were no other injuries, police said.
