Mont Alto honors are announced

MONT ALTO, Pa. - Darlene Gilliland was honored recently for 25 years of service at Penn State Mont Alto.

Gilliland, of Waynesboro, Pa., spent 20 years as a staff assistant. She also was the coordinator of the campus Federal Work Study Program and serves as the veterans certifying official.

Gilliland was promoted to financial aid coordinator in 1998. She chairs the Penn State Mont Alto Scholarship Committee.

Two Mont Alto faculty members received teaching awards at the annual awards ceremony held on the campus in April.

Sean Bohun received the 2003 Martha A. Fisher Award for Excellence in Teaching. Bohun teaches mathematics.

Elizabeth Hill receive the 2003 Student Government Association Award for Excellence in Advising. Hill teaches economics.

Alice Royer recently received the Pennsylvania State University Commission for Adult Learners 2003 Superior Service to Adult Learners Award in recognition of her service to adult learners at Mont Alto.

Royer is an instructor of English and Women's Studies and serves as the adult learner coordinator on the campus.


Royer established the Adult Learner Center on the campus and initiated the Outstanding Adult Learner Award at Mont Alto and its off-site locations.
