Jane E. Allen


Jane Eileen Allen, 83, of 789 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown, died Friday, June 13, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Jan. 21, 1920, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Reichard and Charlotte Colbert Bowers.

She was employed by Fairchild Industries.

She was a member of Maranatha Brethren Church, Women's Missionary Council and Christian Women's Club and volunteered as a Sunday school teacher.

She is survived by her husband, Frank Allen; a daughter, Joy Allen of Hagerstown; a son, Scott Allen of Hagerstown; and three grandchildren.

Services will be Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Jay Fretz will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.




Kevin A. Myers


BLUFFTON, S.C. - Kevin Andrew Myers, 41, of Bluffton, died Sunday, June 8, 2003, at Hilton Head Medical Center, Hilton Head, S.C.

Born Dec. 16, 1961, in Hancock, he was the son of the late Paul D. and Gail I. Norris Myers.

He was employed by Mosley Construction in Bluffton as a carpenter.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Myers, and a brother, Keith A. Myers of Frederick.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Hancock United Methodist Church, Hancock. The Rev. Duane Jensen will officiate.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 7:30 p.m. at the church.

Arrangements are by Grove Funeral Home, Hancock.




Irene J. Reese


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Irene J. Lapole Reese, 84, of 3326 E. Queen St., died Thursday, June 12, 2003, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born May 7, 1919, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Martin Luther and Vallie Virginia Shoemaker Lapole.

She worked in real estate.

She was a member of First Church of God in Chambersburg.

She is survived by a daughter, Dr. Carol A. Conroy of Rockville, Md.; two sons, James R. Reese III of Sarasota, Fla., and David A. Reese of Tokyo, Japan; a brother, Frank P. Lapole of Boonsboro; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a niece.

She was preceded in death by a grandson.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Bast Funeral Home, Boonsboro. The Rev. Donald E. Reese will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Mary Jane Upperman


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Mary Jane Rotz Upperman, 91, of 1425 Philadelphia Ave., Penn Hall and formerly of 5764 Cumberland Highway, died Thursday, June 12, 2003, at Penn Hall.

Born Aug. 5, 1911, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Susan Daugherty Rotz.

She and her husband owned Kenny's Auction.

She attended and was active in Salem United Brethren Church.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth N. Upperman, whom she married April 26, 1929; a daughter, Shirley Lehman of Chambersburg; two sisters, Gladys Bonner of Peoria, Ariz., and Betty Davis of Chambersburg; a brother, Donald Rotz of Shippensburg, Pa.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Glenn R. Upperman, and three brothers, Clarence Rotz, Harry Rotz and Norman Rotz.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Salem United Brethren Church. The Revs. Ron Cook and Robert Keener will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Chambersburg, which will open at 4 p.m.

Luther M. McFadden


MAUGANSVILLE - Luther Merle McFadden, 73, of 13832 Country Side Drive, died Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at his home.

Born April 17, 1930, in Little Cove, Pa., he was the son of the late Webb and Nellie Keefer McFadden.

He was employed by H.L. Mills Inc. in Hagerstown, retiring in 1995 after 45 years of service.

He was a Protestant.

He was a member of Potomac Fish and Game Club, Tri State Bluegrass Association, Friendship Lodge, Funkstown American Legion Dixon Troxell Post 211 and American Federation of Musicians.

He is survived by a daughter, Sonja S. Roadarmel of Maugansville; two sisters, Pauline Johnson of Greencastle, Pa., and Geraldine Perkins of Cumberland, Md.; a brother, Ed McFadden of Mercersburg, Pa.; and a granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen McFadden, and two brothers, Russel McFadden and Earl McFadden.

A memorial service will be held Monday at 7 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, Hagerstown. The Rev. E. Reese Davis will officiate.

There will be no visitation.

CLEAR SPRING - Woodrow David "Woodie" Poole, 87, of Clear Spring, died Thursday, June 12, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.
