WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Children ages 5 through 12 will have the opportunity to enroll in a new multicultural summer camp program sponsored by the Waynesboro Day Care Center between Monday, June 16, and Friday, Aug. 15.

For a nine-week period this summer, children will learn about other cultures through science, art, music, dance, theater, games, sports, computer studies, language, cooking and gardening from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The cost is $150 per week. Lunch and a snack are included in camp fees and a discount is available for enrollment of a second child from the same family. Extended care is available from 6:30 to 9 a.m. and from 3 to 5:30 p.m. for an additional $15.

Children will explore the American experience, create a miniature of Historic Waynesboro, learn about Native American cultures, spend a week exploring tropical islands, rainforests and the African continent. In addition children will learn about French cuisine, create a replica of the Eiffel Tower, celebrate international Carnival and Fiesta traditions and explore the science and sound of American jazz and swing. Each week will feature excursions to Renfrew Museum and Park.

The camps are open to children who are not already enrolled in the Waynesboro Day Care program and parents may select one or more weeks. Space is limited.

Cumberland Valley School of Music also will offer an afternoon music and drama camp for students in the primary grades July 21 through 25. For an additional fee of $40, students may sign up for an afternoon of vocal music, drama or instrumental music under the direction of the CVSM instructors.

The program is open to children who are not regularly enrolled in the day care program. Space is limited, and early registration is recommended.
