William A. LaForce

GERMANTOWN, Md. - William Arthur LaForce, 85, of Germantown, who died Monday, June 9, 2003, was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy May King LaForce, in 1981.




Stephanie L. Ryder

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Stephanie L. Spencer Ryder, 18, of 310 E. McKinley St., died Sunday, June 8, 2003, at Memorial Hospital in Cumberland, Md.

Born Sept. 24, 1984, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of Ralph C. Spencer Sr. of Cumberland and Diana L. Ryder Summerlin of Chambersburg.

She attended Mount Union United Methodist Church in Fayetteville, Pa.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by two sons, Bobby T. Adams and Dakota L. Adams, both of Cumberland; eight sisters, Roxanna Daniels, Betty J. Spencer, Diana Felton and Carol McCullough, all of Mercersburg, Roxanna M. Sanchez of Winchester, Va., and Barbara Scott, Teresa Spencer and Pamela Bobbitt, all of Harrisburg, Pa.; six brothers, Erik R. Rodeheaver of Chambersburg, Ralph C. Spencer Jr. of Paw Paw, W.Va., Gary Spencer and Steven Spencer, both of Cumberland, and Richard McCullough and Tony Spencer, both of Mercersburg; her stepmother, Betty Spencer of Mercersburg; her maternal grandmother, Judy Ryder of Chambersburg; and one aunt.

Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg. The Rev. Robert L. Basom will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday at 9 a.m. at the funeral home.




Grace P. Bowman

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - Grace P. Bowman, 73, of 1085 Black Gap Road, died Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at Chambersburg (Pa.) Hospital.

Born May 14, 1930, in Fayetteville, she was the daughter of the late George Frank and Grace Newell Flory.

She was a homemaker.

She was a Protestant.

She is survived by her husband, Robert J. Bowman, whom she married April 16, 1949; two daughters, Linda K. Goshorn of Chambersburg, and Carol A. Cornell of Mont Alto, Pa.; three sons, Donald E. Bowman of Deltona, Fla., Robert L. Bowman of Fayetteville, and Ricky A. Bowman of Waynesboro, Pa.; four sisters, Gladys Stoner and Doris Bard, both of Fayetteville, and Beatrice Bowman and Ruth Bennett, both of Chambersburg; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.

Graveside services will be Saturday at noon in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. The Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate.

There will be no public viewing.

The family requests the omission of flowers.

Katherine J. Horner

MAUGANSVILLE - Katherine Joyce Horner, 50, of Maugansville, and formerly of Winchester, Va., died Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at her home.

Born Jan. 30, 1953, in Winchester, she was the daughter of Noda Elizabeth Royston Horner of Winchester and the late Carl Samuel Horner.

She had been employed by Northwestern Workshop for more than 30 years.

She was a member of Market Street United Methodist Church, where she attended Sunday School and was a communion assistant.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by one sister, Shirley Swartz of Maugansville; and one brother, Garnett C. Horner of Yorktown, Va.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Omps Funeral Home, Winchester. The Rev. Robert M. Throckmorton Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Judith E. Hawks

Judith Ellen Hawks, 58, formerly of 834 W. Washington St. in Hagerstown, died Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Nov. 25, 1944, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Harry Ernest and Clara Marie Melver Rockwell.

She is survived by four daughters, Gina M. Smoot of Smithsburg, Theresa A. Hawks and Tracey M. Moss, both of Hagerstown, and Vicki L. Bell of Anchorage, Alaska; one sister, Beverly A. Rockwell of Rockville, Md.; one brother, Greg Rockwell of DeBary, Fla.; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; one niece; and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by one stepbrother, Sante L. Caringi.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown. The Rev. Steve Wagoner will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg, Pa.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Edith J. Reel

Edith Johnson Reel, 96, of 1158 Luther Drive in Hagerstown, died Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Jan. 5, 1907, in Mineral, Va., she was the daughter of the late John C. and Lena Virginia Morgan Johnson.

She worked as a seamstress.
