Area Roundup - Braves sweep doubleheader from Roxbury

Matt Bellon pitched a four-hit shutout with nine strikeouts and no walks, as the Hagerstown Braves beat the Roxbury Royals 7-0 to complete a doubleheader sweep on Sunday.

The Braves (9-0, 8-0) won the first game, 8-3. P.J. Hiser went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI for Hagerstown, while Danny Fowler went 2-for-3 with two RBI and Nate Reeser had two hits, including a three-run double. Deron Crawford (2-0) scattered eight hits in six innings for the win.

Hiser had two more doubles in the second game for the Braves, while Mike Kipe went 2-for-2 with two RBI and Zack Swisher went 2-for-2.

Deron Crawford allowed eight hits in six innings to get the win.

Brunswick 24

Chambersburg 3

Jayson Mobley hit two home runs, including a grand slam, and drove in seven runs to lead the Brunswick Orioles. Corie O'Bryan had two hits, including a three-run triple, and Brad Lowe added two hits for Brunswick (5-1).



Conococheague LL

Byers Market 13, Post 202 1: Casey McKenrick had 10 strikeouts in four innings and two RBI for Byers, while Zachary Lucas had three hits and Bradley Miller had two RBI. Nate Lowery had two hits for Post 202.

Conococheague Minor

Neikirk's 15, M&T Bank 2: Ian Moss struck out seven, while Devon Grogg, Kevin Wyks and Austin Huff each had two hits for Neikirk's.

Hagerstown Colt League

Elks 10, Eagles 4: Chris Miller had two hits for Elks.

FOP 10, Cascade 9: Matt Dixon, Jusin Marshall and Arthur Fischer each had two hits for FOP. Andrew Fortney had two hits and Ben Cook homered for Cascade.

FOP 11, Firefighters 10: Norman Potter went 4-for-4 with three home runs and seven RBI for FOP, while Cam Shifler had three hits, including two homers, and four RBI and Chris Selby had two hits. Dwayne Washko went 4-for-4 with two RBI, Dustin Boward had two hits, including a grand slam, and Tyler Shifler hit a solo homer for Firefighters.

Hagerstown Floors 8, UAW 3: Adam Merrbaugh had two hits, including a homer, for Hagerstown Floors. Brandon Rohrer had three hits, Aaron Dixon and Tyson Palmer had two each and Adam Flook homered for the winners. Justin Bussard led UAW with two hits.

Junior Interleague

Homewood 14, Hancock 10: Eric Imes pitched a complete game with nine strikeouts and had two hits for Homewood. George Baker had two hits for Hancock.

Post 202 12, Elks 2: Bo Price pitched a two-hitter and had three hits for Post 202, while Andrew Twigg and Steven Mills each had three hits and Brett Decker and Brennen Pedigo each had two hits.

Post 202 16, Elks 2: Mills pitched a one-hitter and had two hits for Post 202, while Price had three hits and Twigg and Cullen Hemphill each had two hits.

Halfway Little League

Valley Storage Bins 3, Hoffman Auto 2: Danny Spickler threw a five-hitter with 11 strikeouts for Valley Storage. Aaron Stotelmyer and Andrew Duff each had two hits for Hoffman.

Valley Storage Bins 20, Lions 4: Matt Dieke had five hits, including two home runs, and 11 RBI for Valley Storage. Kyle Crist had two hits for Lions.

Hoffman Auto 14, Gehr 3: Kyle Orndorff homered, John Marx had three hits and Aaron Stotelmyer and Andrew Duff had two hits each for Hoffman. Shane Muldoon, Dylan Turner and Ethan Coblentz had two hits each for Gehr.

Maugansville Little League

Maugans Oil 13, Brewer's Saab 6: Miles Trumpower pitched a two-hitter with 14 strikeouts and homered to lead Maugans Oil, while Matt Braithwaite, Brandon Glazier and Adam Trimmer each had two hits.

Maugans Oil 18, Burkholder's 8: T.J. Socks and Glazier each had three hits and Matt Braithwaite and Trumpower each had two hits, while Trumpower homered again for Maugans. Kyle Walters and Cody Payne each had two hits for Burkholder's.

Brewer's Saab 2, Ruritan 1: Mitchell Palmer threw a four-hitter and Ben Benner had a two-run single for Brewer's. Kirkland Jones threw a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts and Jordan Wivell had two hits for Ruritan.

Sharpsburg Little League

Chase Construction 10, Builders Assistants 5: Jacob Pendergraft struck out 15 and Derek Bingaman had three hits for Chase. Pendergraft, Tyler Marshall and Scottie Rhodes each had two hits for the winners. Jeff Remsburg had three hits for Builders Assistants.

S. Mountain Little League

Pete's Barber Shop 5, Thompson 0: Jeremy Hardy and Sean Colgan each had two hits and Josh Danner homered for Pete's. Colgan pitched a one-hitter for the win.

Valley Little League

Dorsey Brothers 6, Total Lube 5: Elliot Martin had two hits, including the game-winner in the bottom of the seventh inning, for Dorsey Brothers. Ben Daniels had two hits for Total Lube.

Weller's Collision Center 8, Police Athletic League 7: Erika Mong and Morgan Monniger each had two hits for Weller's. Jess Patey had two hits for Police.
