Ralph L. Edwards

WILLIAMSPORT - Ralph Lee Edwards, 56, of 16720 Tammany Manor Road, died Friday, June 6, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Jan. 5, 1947, in Washington County, he was the son of Viola Hurd Edwards of Hagerstown, and the late Claude Edwards.

He was employed with General Motors Parts Division in Martinsburg, W.Va.

He was of the Protestant faith.

He was a member of Harley Owner's Group, Chambersburg, Pa.; Loyal Order of Moose, Martinsburg; and Conococheague Tribe 84 Improved Order of Redmen, Williamsport.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Tis Cianelli Edwards; one son, Bryan A. Edwards of Emlenton, Pa.; one stepdaughter, Toni A. Cianelli of Hagerstown; five sisters, Patricia Netz and Claudette Ebersole, both of Hagerstown, Hazel Fields of Maugansville, Esther Lerch of Middletown, Md., and Linda Roelkey of Boonsboro; one brother, George E. St. Clair of Greencastle, Pa.; and four grandsons.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Marks.

Memorial services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, Williamsport. The Rev. A. Paul Harne will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

The family will receive friends at the conclusion of the services. The funeral home will be open Tuesday after 9 a.m.

John B. Mills

John Bruce Mills, 72, of Hagerstown, died Saturday, June 7, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Nov. 11, 1930, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late John William and Mary Irene Turner Mills.

His first wife, T. Lorine Kettering Mills, died Aug. 12, 1985. They were married Oct. 3, 1953.

He was a member of Linwood (Md.) Brethren Church.

He is survived by his wife, Frances E. Hunn Mills, whom he married Nov. 19, 1989; one daughter, Caroline A. Eigenbrode of Waynesboro, Pa.; one son, John C. Mills of Hagerstown; two stepdaughters, Laura N. McClure of York, Pa., and Linda N. Condo of Williamsport; one stepson, Robert W. Newton of Oakland, Md.; two brothers, Allen Mills of Catonsville, Md., and William Mills of Hagerstown; and eight stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Ralph Mills.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. James Brethren Church, Hagerstown. The Revs. Brian Moore and Dan Ceary will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown, and Wednesday one hour prior to the services at the church.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Linwood Brethren Church, 575 McKinstry Mill Road, Linwood, MD 21791; or to a charity of one's choice.




Charles W. Smith

WILMINGTON, Del. - Charles W. Smith, 89, of 2723 Shipley Road, died Sunday, June 8, 2003, at Shipley Manor Nursing Home.

Born Sept. 9, 1913, in Scottsville, Va., he was the son of the late William D. and Annie Harris Smith.

His wife, Josephine Statler Smith, died Dec. 29, 1995.

He was a graduate of Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Va., with bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering.

He was a former employee of Del-Mar-VA Power Co., Wilmington.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II.

He was of the Protestant faith.

He is survived by one sister, Frances Justice of Lima, Pa.

Graveside services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg, Pa. The Rev. Michael R. Brendle will officiate.

There will be no viewing.

Arrangements are by Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg.




Gary L. Robinson

BALTIMORE - Gary Lee Robinson, 46, of 2617 E. Preston St., died Thursday, June 5, 2003, at his home.

Born Dec. 28, 1956, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Beverley J. Bell of Hagerstown, and the late Charles A. Clark.

He attended South Hagerstown High School and attended Baylor University in Texas.

He was employed by Tremont Plaza Hotel, Baltimore.

He was a certified refrigeration and air-conditioning technician.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He was of the Christian faith.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Zoe A. Robinson of Hagerstown; his stepfathers, Russell N. Freeman Sr. and Roger M. Bell, both of Hagerstown; three stepsons, Ryan L. Smith of Atlanta, and Roland L. Smith and Russell L. Smith, both of Hagerstown; three sisters, Debra A. Smith, Cornelia A. Hicks and Lisa M. Freeman, all of Hagerstown; one brother, Russell N. Freeman Jr. of Annapolis; one grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Ernest E. Freeman.

Services will be Wednesday at noon at Zion Baptist Church, Hagerstown. The Revs. Haru Carter and Carl Q. Hickerson will officiate. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

The family will receive friends Wednesday one hour prior to the services at the church.
