June 09, 2003

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Franklin County Prison inmate on the run for almost six months and another missing for eight days were captured last week, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Police said Chad Eric Williams, 29, of Pleasant Hall, Pa., who had failed to return from a work release assignment on Dec. 19, was caught Thursday near Carlisle, Pa. He was returned to the county prison, police said.

Daryl L. Tolbert, 27, who failed to come back from a May 30 job interview in Chambersburg, was captured Friday in Mount Vernon, N.Y., and was awaiting extradition, police said.

Williams was in jail for violating probation and had been working at Valk Manufacturing in Cumberland County when he escaped, according to Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers. He was fired that morning and was returning to the prison in a private vehicle when he jumped out at a traffic light and ran.
