Plants poisonous to pets

Summer is often a time when people fertilize lawns and work in their gardens. Plant food, fertilizer and insecticides can be fatal if your pet ingests them. In addition, more than 700 plants can produce physiologically active or toxic substances in sufficient amounts to cause harmful effects in animals. For a list of plants that are dangerous to your pet and other animals, contact the Humane Society of Washington County.

For more information on Soleil, poisonous plants or National Adopt a Shelter Cat Month, visit the Humane Society of Washington County at 13011 Maugansville Road in Hagerstown or call 301-733-2060.
