Catherine M. Davis

BOONSBORO - Catherine Mahala Gaylor "Kitty" Davis, 109, of 8507 Mapleville Road, and formerly of 112 Randolph Ave. in Hagerstown, died Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at Fahrney-Keedy Home near Boonsboro.

Born March 26, 1894, in Mapleville, she was the daughter of the late Lewis D. and Mary Elizabeth Ocker Gaylor.

Her husband, J. Franklin Davis, preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in Hagerstown.

She was a member of Queen Star Chapter 3, Order of the Eastern Star in Hagerstown.

She is survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Carrie E. Gaylor Stouffer and Eva Gaylor Kauffman; and one brother, Harry Gaylor.


Graveside services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown. The Revs. Stephen D. Robison and Patricia Sebring will officiate.

There will be no visitation.

Arrangements are by Bast Funeral Home, Boonsboro.

Jesse W. Sipes

Jesse W. Sipes, 71, of Hagerstown, died Monday, June 2, 2003, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born Sept. 14, 1931, in Little Orleans, Md., he was the son of the late Robert and Reba Miller Sipes.

He worked as a machinist at Pangborn Corp.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He was a member of Hagerstown Church of God.

He was a member of VFW and Eagles, both in Hagerstown.

He is survived by his former wife, Betty Unger Sipes of Hancock; two daughters, Betty Sipes of Hancock, and Jackie Sipes McKee of Falling Waters, W.Va.; four sons, Allan Sipes, Donnie Sipes, Calvin Sipes and Randy Sipes, all of Hancock; four sisters, Margaret Taylor, Ruth Brown and Susan Kelbaugh, all of Hagerstown, and Eileen Flint of Hephzibah, Ga.; two brothers, Robert Sipes of Hancock, and David Sipes of Orlando, Fla.; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be Thursday at noon in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown. Pastor Brian Moore will officiate.

Arrangements are by Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, Hagerstown.

Sue K. Karn

Sue Kathryn Karn, 84, of 20009 Rosebank Way in Hagerstown, died Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Feb. 10, 1919, in Staunton, Va., she was the daughter of the late Oliver Hinton and Edmonia Belle Snyder Michael.

Her husband, E. Leroy Karn Jr., died in 1990.

She and her husband owned and operated Anderson Dry Cleaning and Cold Storage.

She was a member of Christ's Reformed Church.

She is survived by nieces and nephews.

Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown. The Rev. Don R. Stevenson will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

There will be no viewing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christ's Reformed Church, 130 W. Franklin St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Jerry D. Little/

MIAMI - Jerry Darnell Little, 61, of Miami, and formerly of Hagerstown, died Friday, May 30, 2003.

He worked at Doubleday Publishing and Arnold Graphics.

He is survived by his parents, John and Billie Little; one sister, Terry Little; four sons, Ken and John Little, both of Hagerstown, Wayne Little of Fort Myers, Fla., and Rodney Little of Martinsburg, W.Va.; and 11 grandchildren.

There will be no viewing or services.

Rhetta G. Montgomery

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Rhetta Grove Montgomery, 88, of Menno Haven Nursing Home, and formerly of 346 Lincoln Way West, died Monday, June 2, 2003, at the home.

Born Aug. 19, 1914, in Juniata, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William G. and Anna Ward Grove.

Her husband, Bruce H. Montgomery, died March 22, 1984.

She was a member of Gethsemane United Methodist Church in Altoona, Pa., and had attended Central Presbyterian Church in Chambersburg.

She is survived by one niece and one nephew, both of Altoona.

Graveside services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Shade Gap, Pa. Chaplain Samuel J. Troyer will officiate.

There will be no viewing.

Arrangements are by Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, Chambersburg.

Margaret J. Kurlick

Margaret Jeanette Kurlick, 82, of 1639 Langley Drive in Hagerstown, who died Sunday, June 1, 2003, was the daughter of the late Jesse P. Rohrback. She is survived by one sister, Lovetta V. Lyons of Hagerstown.

Howard B. Williamson Jr.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Howard B. Williamson Jr., 82, of 367 Grandview Ave., died Monday, June 2, 2003, at Chambersburg Hospital.

He was born Feb. 15, 1921, in Williamson, Pa.

A U.S. Navy veteran, he served during World War II.

An engineer, he retired from PennDOT in Harrisburg, Pa. He also had been employed at Fairchild in Hagerstown.

He was a life member of American Legion Post 46 and of the Chambersburg Club, AMVETS, Marine Corps League, Moose Club, Vietnam Club, Eagles Club, 40/8 Club and was a life member of the Elks in Hagerstown.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Wilma; one daughter, Stephannie, and her husband, Allan; and two grandchildren, Victoria and Megan.
