Man charged after crashing into house



FORT LOUDON, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police have charged a Fort Loudon man with driving under the influence after the vehicle he was driving struck a house early Monday.

Police said Daran Mark Pogue, 42, was charged following the 12:50 a.m. crash. Police said he was driving a 1989 Jeep Commanche pickup truck north on Path Valley Road in Metal Township when he swerved to avoid a deer.

The Jeep hit a house at 7101 Path Valley Road, police said. Pogue had minor injuries, according to police.




Turtle, ducks play role in Pa. crash



CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A snapping turtle and ducks played roles in a two-vehicle accident Friday on Falling Spring Road in Guilford Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Police said Lester Abbott of Chambersburg was driving a 1990 Chevrolet north at 2:14 p.m. when he stopped for a snapping turtle in the road.

Police said Frank Arrison Sr. of Chambersburg failed to see Abbott stopped because he was looking at ducks in a creek to the east of the road.

Arrison's 1989 Oldsmobile hit the rear of Abbott's vehicle, police said. Both men were treated at Chambersburg Hospital and released, according to a hospital spokeswoman.




Firefighters battle trailer fire in W.Va.



MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Firefighters battled a fire in a trailer off North Queen Street Monday night, dispatchers said.

It was not clear whether the structure was a mobile home or some other type of structure, dispatchers said.

The fire occurred behind the old Kmart store on North Queen Street, dispatchers said.

Bedington Volunteer Fire Department members responded to the fire, dispatchers said.

The fire was under control as of 10:19 p.m., although firefighters were still at the scene, dispatchers said.
