About the 'Chicken Soup' book series

June 02, 2003

Mary Alice Baumgardner's story, "A Fib and the Matinee," can be found in "Chicken Soup for the Mother & Daughter Soul."

The book is part of a successful run that began in 1993 with the publication of "Chicken Soup for the Soul," the first of more than 60 titles in a series that has sold tens of millions of books.

Rejected by 140 publishers, told that their book was too positive and wouldn't sell, motivational speakers and workshop presenters Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen stuck with their idea that readers want such inspirational stories.

There are Chicken Soup collections for the souls of pet lovers, teenagers, golfers, travelers, veterans, couples, singles, prisoners - even for NASCAR and chiropractic souls.
