Washington County Free Library



Marilyn Smith Ashcraft has joined the staff of the Washington County Free Library as a library assistant II.

Ashcraft will work in the Bookmobile Department.




City Hospital



MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Christina White, a registered nurse in the Transitional Care Unit at City Hospital, won the hospital's 2003 Ginny Jones Memorial Nursing Award.

The award is given in memory of Ginny Jones, a staff nurse from 1962 to 1987, and personifies "the best of the best" in nursing.




Neurosurgical Specialists



Brian Holmes, M.D., has joined Drs. John Caruso, Neal O'Malley and Michael Radley of Neurosurgical Specialists at 1150 Professional Court in Hagerstown.

Holmes is a board-certified neurosurgeon specializing in cerebrovascular disorders - the treatment of cerebral aneurysms and carotid artery disease.

Holmes is a former assistant professor of neurosurgery at the Hershey Medical Center, Penn State College of Medicine.

Maryland School for the Blind



Elaine Sveen, superintendent of the Minnesota State Academy of the Blind, has been named president and chief operating officer of the Maryland School for the Blind.

Sveen has been the superintendent for the Minnesota State Academy for the Blind since 1994 and served as Education Program associate director at the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind at Hampton.

Stacy Raidt of Hagerstown recently became a consultant for Tastefully Simple Inc., a national direct sales company based in Alexandria, Minn.

Raidt conducts in-home presentations of convenience-driven gourmet foods.

Lynda Churchwell of Hagerstown, state manager of Woodmen of the World/Omaha Woodmen Life Insurance Society, has qualified for membership in the President's Clubs.
