Food service inspections

The following food service establishments were closed by the Washington County Health Department in April after they were found to have critical violations. Both were opened again upon re-inspection.

Hagerstown Suns. Home plate concession stand, 274 E. Memorial Blvd., Hagerstown - *No hot water in the three-compartment or hand-washing sinks on April 2 inspection; reopened on April 7 when hot water was restored. Unshielded light bulbs in home base and third-base concessions.

Denny's Restaurant. 1630 Dual Highway, Hagerstown - *No hot water in restaurant on April 16 inspection; reopened April 17 when hot water was restored. Front counter needs repairs; light bulb under hood must be replaced; must repair ice machine cover and handle on door of walk-in cooler; no food may be stored on floor of freezer; storage room floor needs cleaning.




The following food service establishments were inspected by the Washington County Health Department in April and found to have critical violations that needed to be corrected immediately:

Four States Christian Missions Inc. 125 N. Prospect St., Hagerstown - *Must dispose of all home canning products (corrected); must store all wipe cloths in sanitizer, label all spray bottles, store all product 4 inches off the floor, store all pots inverted and seal hole in floor.

Reeder's Memorial Home. 141 S. Main St., Boonsboro - *Severely dented cans (discarded); must replace light bulb under hood (corrected).

Ravenwood Lutheran Village. 1183 Luther Drive, Hagerstown - *Severely dented can (discarded); can opener needs cleaning (corrected); must adjust pressure on dish machine.

China King Restaurant. 164 N. Burhans Blvd., Hagerstown - *Soda cans stored in ice bin of soda fountain (corrected); fried noodles stored improperly in unlined and unsealed cardboard box; exhaust fan in men's restroom needs cleaning; no hand towels in dispenser in men's restroom; exhaust hood and filters need cleaning; floor under cooking line, top of broiler, can opener, shelves in walk-in and floor in walk-in refrigerator need cleaning; thermometers needed in all refrigeration/freezer units; leaking roof in storeroom needs repairs as well as freezer door, floor under tables, sink and refrigerator; soap and towels needed at hand sink (corrected).

Hickory Corner Inc. 17102 Virginia Ave., Williamsport - *Raw chicken cannot be stored over other food (corrected); thermometer needed in ice cream chest; must repair floor tile under equipment line.

East End Deli and Sub Shop. 200 E. Washington St., Hagerstown - *All product in sandwich unit must be stored below lip of tray (corrected); hot plate cannot be used; paper towels needed at hand sink (corrected); must label and date all bulk containers; must store wipe cloths in sanitizer; test strips needed at three-compartment sink.

Tony's Pizza Time Cafe. 10 E. Salisbury St., Williamsport - *Employee beverages potentially contaminating preparation area (corrected); single-serve items must be 4 inches off floor (corrected); must clean small freezer; thermometers needed in all units; must clean bottom shelf of freezer, floor in back preparation area and bottom of two-door refrigeration unit; must store all food product 4 inches off floor; shields needed on lights in preparation area.




The following food service establishments were inspected by the Washington County Health Department in April 2003 and found to have sanitation violations which must be corrected within 30 days:

Fountain Head Country Club. 13316 Fountain Head Road, Hagerstown - Must clean floors in storeroom and walk-in freezer; no product may be stored on floor of walk-in; must clean exhaust louvers over ice machine; single-serve items may not be stored on floor; must defrost ice cream chest, label and date all bulk containers and clean can opener and hood filters.

Panorama Acres. 301 Quaker St., Hancock - Must send for current license.

D&S and Sons. Hagerstown City Market - Must clean hood filters.

Corsi's Market. 601 W. Washington St., Hagerstown - Must store all wipe cloths in sanitizer (corrected); thermometers needed in ice cream case; must repair floor where needed.

Hancock Middle-Senior High School. 289 W. Main St., Hancock - Must rewrap pipe over freezer unit.

Byers River City Market. 18 N. Conococheague St., Williamsport - Must replace cover on hot seal machine, repair floor and tiles by ice cream case, clean lip of ice machine and have a dipper well.

Martin's Food Market. 1729 Dual Highway, Hagerstown - Must lean can opener and remove rust and repair counter (corrected); single-serve items cannot be stored on floor (corrected); must store wipe cloths in sanitizer (corrected); paper towels needed at salad bar hand sink; thermometer needed in carry-out unit; must replace light in hood; dish rack not acceptable; must clean milk walk-in, cover bakery products in walk-in and store all food product 4 inches off floor.

Fox's Pizza Den. 163 W. High St., Hancock - Must not store product on floor of walk-in; must clean hood.
