Sharon A. Albert


BOONSBORO - Sharon Ann Miller Albert, 53, of Boonsboro, died Saturday, May 24, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Sept. 7, 1949, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Margaret Virginia Poffenberger Miller of Hagerstown, and the late Carroll Ivan Miller.

Her husband, Wayne Eugene Albert, died Aug. 27, 1999.

She was employed by Bell Atlantic in Frederick, Md.

She was a member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church.

She was a member of National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by two daughters, Kimberly A. Hawbaker of Keedysville, and Kristin L. Gunder of Waynesboro, Pa.; one sister, Donna Mumma of Hagerstown; three brothers, Larry Miller and Darrin Miller, both of Hagerstown, and Gary Miller of Boonsboro; maternal grandmother, Sylvia Poffenberger of Hagerstown; and five granddaughters.

Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Bast Funeral Home, Boonsboro. The Rev. Robert D. Welty will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Maryland Chapter, Western Maryland Branch, 5 Public Square, Hagerstown, MD 21740.




Kenneth H. Wolf


Kenneth H. Wolf, 85, of 1046 Carroll Heights in Hagerstown, died Saturday, May 24, 2003, at his home.

Born Oct. 31, 1917, in Smithsburg, he was the son of the late Ira L. and Nellie L. Wolfe Wolf.

He was employed by Fairchild Aircraft, retiring in 1982 after 42 years of service.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Viola Kathryn Wolf; two daughters, Nancy V. Brandt and Barbara R. Roulette, both of Hagerstown; five sisters, Bernice Sease of Greencastle, Pa., Ruth Ingram, Evelyn Hessong and Mary Lewis, all of Smithsburg, and Jane Grossnickle of Myersville, Md.; two brothers, Robert Wolfe and John Wolfe, both of Smithsburg; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Audrey Ingram; and one brother, Nevin L. Wolfe.

Graveside services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, Pa. The Rev. Dean Miller will officiate.

At the family's request, there will be no visitation.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Charles W. Evans Sr.


BUNKER HILL, W.Va. - Charles W. "Bill" Evans Sr., 76, of Bunker Hill, died Saturday, May 24, 2003, at his home.

Born Aug. 13, 1926, in Martinsburg, W.Va., he was the son of the late Charles Evans and Mary Powell Evans Kline.

He retired from Shockey Brothers Construction as a carpenter.

He was a World War II veteran, serving with the U.S. Navy.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Inwood, W.Va.

He was a member of Newton D. Baker Post VFW 896, and American Legion Post 202 in Williamsport.

He is survived by his wife, Erma Moore Evans; one son, Charles W. Evans Jr. of Martinsburg; one sister, Helen Wolford of Martinsburg; and one granddaughter.

Services will Wednesday at 11 a.m. at South Berkeley Chapel, Inwood. Pastor James W. Holt will officiate. Burial with military graveside services will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Junior Fike


KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. - Junior Fike, 58, of Kearneysville, died Sunday, May 25, 2003, at his home.

Born Nov. 1, 1944, in Vindex, Md., he was the son of the late Wesley A. and Hazel Hershman Fike.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Foy Fike.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Forsythe Fike; four daughters, Beverly A. Gerlach and Betty S. Lowe, both of Kearneysville, and Joyce L. Jenkins and Pamela J. Cook, both of Bunker Hill, W.Va.; one son, Dale A. Fike of Baltimore; one sister, Erma Beal of Baltimore; four brothers, Charles Fike, Ernest Fike, Kenneth Fike and Jerry Fike, all of Baltimore; and nine grandchildren

He was preceded in death by one son, Randy Fike; and one brother, Donald Fike.

Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at South Berkeley Chapel, Inwood, W.Va. Pastor Earl R. Hairston III will officiate. Burial will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Winchester, Va.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Phoebe E. Jones


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Phoebe E. Jones, 82, of 660 Cumberland Ave., died Friday, May 23, 2003, at home.

Born Feb. 18, 1921, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Carrie Gelwicks Defenderfer.

Her first husband, John D. Armstrong Sr., died in 1995. Her second husband, Alfred W. Jones died in 1974.

She was employed at the former Stanley Co. for 20 years, retiring in 1962.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church and the L.C.W.
