THURMONT, Md. - Catoctin's run stood up with defense and Shawna Wilkes' pitching for a 1-0 victory over Brunswick Monday in the Class 1A South final.

The Cougars (21-0) will play the winner of the 1A North final between Rising Sun and Northeast today at 3 p.m. at Randazzo Park in Severn, Md.

"It's still business," said Catoctin coach Amy Hunt, who guided the Cougars to the finals last season. "I didn't see any celebration after the game, it was just another game. There's only one thing that's going to satisfy them at this point."

Jen Cregger led off the fourth with a walk, Heidi Stull reached on an error following her sacrifice bunt attempt, and Ashley Lenhart's bunt single loaded the bases before Kaitlyn Byrne's RBI single scored Cregger with the only run.

Wilkes allowed only three hits, and got help from her outfield. Right fielder Lenhart threw out two runners on forceouts at first and also threw out a runner trying to stretch a double into a triple - one of two Brunswick runners thrown out that way.

"(Brunswick) hit the best I've seen anybody hit (Wilkes) this season," Hunt said. "I was telling her to throw strikes and she was, and we had outstanding defense."

Megan Epley took the loss for the Railroaders, allowing six hits in a complete game effort.
