Emma E. Downin


QUINCY, Pa. - Emma E. Morrow Downin, 77, of Quincy United Methodist Home and of 12012 Country Club Road, Waynesboro, Pa., died Friday, May 16, 2003, at the nursing home.

Born June 12, 1925, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late James and Bertha Baker Morrow.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence J. Downin, in 1983. They were married Aug. 12, 1943.

She attended Waynesboro schools.

She was a homemaker.

She attended Elder Day Adult Day Care Center in Waynesboro.

She is survived by three daughters, Jeanne M. Lesher of Fayetteville, Pa., Kimberly W. Reckner of Wauseon, Ohio, and Robin T. Langlois of Waynesboro; two sons, Joseph C. Downin of Fairfield, Pa., and the Rev. Terry L. Downin of New Philadelphia, Ohio; a sister, Ester Bowders of Waynesboro; a brother, Robert Morrow of Reading, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by six sisters, Thelma Helser, Mary Jane Morrow, Dorothy Morrow, Bertha Morrow, Harriet Morrow and Gale Morrow, and six brothers, Frederick Morrow, Lester Morrow, Harvey Morrow, James Morrow, John Morrow and Charles Morrow.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. The Rev. John Toms will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Grace H. Glaser


BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Grace Harris Glaser, 58, of Berkeley Springs, died Thursday, May 15, 2003, at her home.

Born June 17, 1944, in Carroll County, Md., she was the daughter of Jack Hardy and Hillis Alvis Caldwell Hawkins.

She is survived by her husband, Steven L. Glaser; a son, Wayne D. Harris of Sulphur Springs, Texas; five sisters, B. Jewell Hawkins, Alvis A. Garver and Linda C. Lantz, all of Westminster, Md., Wanda R. Derr of Reistertown, Md., and Mary M. Hansen of Selbyville, Del.; two brothers, B. Joel Hawkins and T. Earl Hawkins, both of Westminster; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Staub.

Services and burial will be private.

Viewing will be Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs.

Pauline G. Poliseo


CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Pauline Grace Poliseo, 53, of Charles Town, died Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.

Born March 17, 1950, in New York City, she was the daughter of Henry S. and Frances Daponte Ernanez of Charles Town.

She had been employed as a ticket agent by American Airlines.

She was a Catholic.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her former husband, Rocco Poliseo of Fairfax, Va., and a son, Thomas Poliseo of Gaithersburg, Md.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, Charles Town. The Rev. George W. Pucciarelli will be celebrant. Burial will be in Fairfax Memorial Park Cemetery, Fairfax.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town.




Henrietta G. K. Lehman


Henrietta "Sis" Gordon Kelly Lehman, 80, of 9 Haywood Circle, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Oct. 20, 1922, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Bernard K. and Elsie Norbet Plunkert Kelly.

She was employed by Funkstown Elementary School and previously by Fairchild Industries and Hagerstown Rubber Co.

She was a member of Funkstown American Legion Post 211 Auxiliary, the TOPS Club and the Women's Thursday Night Bowling League.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Kettering Lehman, Feb. 25, 1991.

She is survived by three daughters, Scarlet Lehman and Chantey Calandrelle, both of Hagerstown, and Cindy Pinto of Columbia, Md.; a son, John H. Lehman of Hagerstown; a sister, Edna Donegan of Williamsport; and four grandchildren, Staci Lehman, Toni Calandrelle, Kelley Calandrelle and Casey Calandrelle, all of Hagerstown.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Rohrer and Betty Delouney, and two brothers, Jack Kelly and John Kelly.

Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Jim Chevalier officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Alfred C. Zimmerman


BOONSBORO - Alfred Cook Zimmerman, 97, of 104 Lakin Ave., Boonsboro, died Friday, May 16, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Sept. 8, 1905, in Sylvan, Pa., he was the son of the late Charles B. and Susan Cook Zimmerman.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Shank Zimmerman, whom he married March 7, 1934.

He was a graduate of Mercersburg Academy.
