May 16, 2003

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The 19th annual Friends of Legal Services book sale opens at 9 a.m. today at Laird Hall on Wilson College campus in Chambersburg. Book lovers and bargain hunters flock to the sale from as far away as North Carolina and Chicago.

The Friends group has so many books this year that they will be putting new books out on the tables throughout the sale.

The sale will run until 9 p.m. today; from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 17, and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 18. Most paperbacks cost 50 cents. On Sunday, patrons may fill a whole grocery bag with books of their choice for $3. Fifty-one categories of books will be displayed on separate tables.

"If you have a type of book in mind, we have it," said Esther Buck, one of the organizers of the sale. Categories include cookbooks, children's books, young adult, science fiction, mysteries, romance, biography, literature, hobbies, crafts, history, Civil War, art, music, religion and philosophy, recently-published books, rare books, collectors' items, home and garden, pets and travel.
