ROME, Ga. - Carlos Sosa collected two hits and drove in two runs Thursday to support the shutout pitching of Glenn Woolard and Josh Cram to lift the Hagerstown Suns to a 6-0 victory over Rome.
It was Hagerstown's third straight victory over the Braves. The Suns moved within one game of .500 at 20-21.
Woolard worked out of a pair of bases-loaded jams to shutout Rome through six innings. He allowed six hits, four walks and struck out seven.
Cram recorded his first save with three innings of one-hit pitching.
The Suns jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second. Sosa singled, Travis Ishikawa reached on an error by second baseman Jon Schuerholz and Randy Walter walked to load the bases. Aaron Hornostaj hit into a double play to score the run.
Hagerstown pushed the lead to 3-0 in the third. Karl Jernigan and Derin McMains hit two-out singles before scoring on Sosa's triple to the right field corner.
