Suns defeat Braves

ROME, Ga. - Steve Holm doubled to drive in an insurance run with one out in the top of the seventh Wednesday to lead the Hagerstown Suns to a 6-5 win over the Rome Braves.

The Braves (22-16) jumped out to a 4-0 lead through the first four innings. Rome got a single run in the second on Alonzo Ruelas' single and added a run in the third on Jeff Francoeur's RBI hit.

The Braves doubled the lead in the fourth on Ardley Jansen's RBI single and Luis Hernandez's steal of home.

Hagerstown (19-21) broke through in the fifth with the help of two Rome errors. Fred Lewis reached on the first error and took second on Karl Jernigan's single before scoring when Derin McMains reached on the second error. Travis Ishikawa drove in a run with a bases-loaded fielder's choice. Aaron Hornostaj laid down an RBI bunt single to cut the deficit to 4-3.

The Suns tied the game in the sixth on Jernigan's RBI triple and took the lead on Carlos Sosa's sacrifice fly.

Hensley (3-1) scattered 13 hits and allowed five runs while striking out three in 6 1/3 innings.

Matt Palmer closed down the Braves for the last five outs to record his sixth save.
