The Washington County tennis championships were interrupted twice by showers on Monday, as only first-round and quarterfinal matches were completed. The meet will resume today at 3:30 at North Hagerstown.
"We had two one-hour rain delays," Hubs coach Lance Baker said. "We played in cold, damp weather today. Our goal was to get all of the matches done through the quarterfinals. This weather is just frustrating."
The boys singles semifinals feature Smithsburg's Tim Gaines against Boonsboro's Dustin Gibbons, and Smithsburg's Steve Kurz against North's David Macht.
Semifinal pairings in the girls singles will match the Hubs' Shanna Ruff against South Hagerstown's Esther Shin and Clear Spring's Courtney Robinson against North's Leslie Schoeck.
In the girls doubles semifinals, Williamsport's Meggie Miller and Kara Hoffman will face North's Ashley Chupp and Lauren O'Boyle, while the Wildcats' Brittney Dean and Betsy Shaw face the Rebels' Lindsay Dattilio and Susan Lewis.
