ARNOLD, Md. - Ryan Devlin threw a complete-game four-hitter, allowing no earned runs and striking out seven to lead Hagerstown Community College to an 8-4 quarterfinal victory over Garrett Community College in the Region XX Tournament.

Devan Ewell led the Hawks with three hits, including a solo home run in the fifth inning, while Paul Conway added two hits and an RBI.

Hagerstown (24-13-1) advances to the semifinals against the winner of Potomac State and Anne Arundel.

W.Va. State 14, Shepherd 4

PRINCETON, W.Va. - Tim Shilling had three hits, including two home runs, and drove in three runs for West Virginia State in its victory over Shepherd in the West Virginia Conference Tournament.

Ryan Taylor had two hits and four RBI, Sam Gerkin and Jeffry Cadwallader added three hits each and both Cadwallader and Kevin Goode homered for West Virginia State. Justin Clyde pitched seven innings of six-hit ball with three strikeouts.


Mike Spry drove in two runs while Joe Cook, Josh Delawter and Shane Wines each had two hits for the Rams. Losing pitcher Brian Renner gave up nine runs in three innings.


Maugansville Senior League

Shawley's 8, Larry Allen 7: Blake McCoy struck out 13 and David Kendal had two hits to lead Shawley's.

American Little League

Elks 2, Thompson Concrete 1: Tyler Erndee threw a no-hitter and Jordan Hatfield had two hits for Elks. Dustin Price allowed only four hits for Thompson.

Hancock Little League

Tigers 5, Yankees 3: Lucas Trunkle struck out 15, while Darren Schultz and Josh Sipes had two hits each for the Tigers. Kyle Smith had 12 strikeouts, while both Smith and Jesse Smartt had two hits for the Yankees.

Conococheague Little League

Redmen 8, Wolfes 7: Jesse Buchman and Steve Siler combined to pitch a four-hitter and added two hits each for Redmen.


Mountain Express Track Club

Charity hockey game

Local television and radio personalities will team up with players from the Hagerstown Ice and Sports Complex adult novice hockey class to play the second HISC exhibition game May 17 at 5:30 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the Red Cross. LAXFEST comes to Baltimore

LAXFEST, a free two-day lacrosse festival for all ages, will be coming to Baltimore for Memorial Day weekend, May 24-25 from noon-8 p.m. Fans and tourists are invited to join the festivities, which include games, music, bands, fireworks, pep rallies, demonstrations, contests and vendor booths. Greencastle golf tournament

The 15th annual Greencastle-Antrim Chamber of Commerce golf tournament will be held on June 4 at 1 p.m. at Greencastle Greens Golf Club. The tournament will be played in a four-person scramble format and top golfers will share more than $1,000 in prizes. After play, golfers will enjoy a catered dinner by Sunnyway Diner. Suns' 2003 Youth Camp

The Hagerstown Suns are inviting all children ages 7-12 to participate in the 2003 Youth Baseball Camp at Municipal Stadium, sponsored by Outback Steakhouse. The camp will take place July 28-30 from 9 a.m.-noon each day. All instruction will be provided by Suns players and coaching staff. Cost is $85 per child, which includes instruction, a T-shirt, lunch each day and a ticket to each Suns game during the camp.
